Zafarnama means 'letter of victory'. Guru Gobind Singh Ji actually wrote this letter in Persian language . This is just translation in Punjabi . He knew many languages. When Aurangzeb read this letter stating his bad deeds and sins, the letter completely demoralised him strucking at his heart realising that he has done very bad. Out of this shame , he started feeling pain in the body. Whatever he was consuming was turning into poison as he lost his ability to expel wastes from the body. He fell on bed with pain. As it was difficult for him to survive such pain and was trembling on bed , he wished to die but he was not dying easily , rather he was trembling with pain on bed. As he read Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa , Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh ' at the last ' meaning Khalsa belongs to God , victory belongs to God , he died. After his death , the strong Mughal Empire started declining .

You guys should not be dancing about this because the story behind this is that Aurangzeb promised guru Gobind Singh ji and his Singhs and sons to be free and leave to anandpur but that promise was broken when they were attacked on the way then according to some sites 48 Singhs including Guru Gobind Singh ji and his 2 elder sons had to go to Chamkaur where they fought the most fierce battle in Sikh history. Aurangzeb was emperor of India. He wants to turn India into Islamic county by forcefully changing the religion started from Kashmir. When 9th Sikh Guru Teg Bahadur father of 10th Guru Gobind Singh came to know about this, the 9th Guru Teg Bahadur told Aurangzeb if he can change his religion to Islam than everyone else will change and if he failed to do that, he should stop force conversion. This letter was wriiten to Aurangzeb because he broke his promise and he broke his swear to quran. He was a fake muslim but he though of himself as a good practicing muslim. So then Guru Ji told him about his reality in that letter and he got so ashamed that he died because of those strong words. In this letter Guru Ji says that it doesn’t matter if you have killed my 4 sons but my Khalsa is still alive who will burn the floor under you (which means that destroy your cruel kingdom) which they did.

Mughals ruled India over 1000 years and Aurangzeb was one of mughal ruler and one of his aim was to convert everyone into islam without anyone’s consent, he was killing everyday thousands of people everyday who refused to convert. He was not able to complete his mission in presence of Sikhs and guru Gobind singh, that’s why he wanted to capture him. After defeated in 14 battles against guru Gobind Singh ji he was not accepting his defeat and continued to carry on his cruelty on people, that’s why guru Gobind Singh wrote this historic letter to him.

This epistle is called Zafarnama, letter of victory. This written by Guru Gobind Singh ji when he heard the his two younger sons Zorawar Singh age 9 and Fateh Singh age 6, were bricked alive by Wazir Khan Governor of Sirhind state. His elder sons Ajit Singh 17 and Jujhar Singh 14 died fighting in Chamkuar Sahib. Check out the battle of Chamkuar sahib where 40 sikhs fought 100k plus, enemy soldiers. In Zafarnama Guru Gobind singh ji writes about this.

Aurangzeb was the Emporer of the Mughal Empire, but he was a ruthless and an oppressive emporer who waged war to eliminate all Sikhs from his empire because he deemed them a political threat due to them condemning his transgressions.. This resulted in a civil war/guerilla war type of situation with Sikhs waging war to overthrow the Mughal Empire from their native lands (Punjab) and the Mughal Empire carrying out multiple genocides against Sikhs. That is why, Aurangzeb is referred to as the Emporer and the Sikh Guru as the "True King" because Sikhs rejected Mughal rule.. After Guru Gobind Singh Ji's martyrdom, the Sikhs did eventually overthrow the Mughal Empire from Punjab, Khyber and Kashmir and ruled those lands until the arrival of the British a 100 years later..

Basically, guru is referred to Guru Gobind Singh ji(10th guru of Sikhs)(Guru is like priests in church) Guru formed a separate community(named as Khalsa Panth) and declared every Sikh should carry weapons with them to protect themselves. At that time, India was rules by mughal rulers and Aurangzeb was current ruler of entire northern India. He forced everyone to change their religion and accept Islamic belief. Under his rule, he deployed army(his personal army from delhi + army of wazir khan(who was leader of sarhind region under Auranzeb ruler) + army of various kingdoms in the mountain region) against guru gobind Singh ji when guru declared to carry weapons and fight for the justice. When army failed to enter Anandpur fort(where guru Gobind Singh lived), wazir khan sent leaders of mountainous kingdom who came to guru gobind singh ji and promised by keeping their hands on quran sharif and for cows(holy animal of hindus) and asked guru gobind singh to leave the fort and are allowed to go anywhere with other Sikhs and will not be followed by army. So guru ji left the fort and when they crossed few villages, army of million men chased them. Guru ji crossed Sirsa river(due to flood, family of guru got separated and sikhs too got sperated). After crossing river, guru ji along with other 42 Sikhs went to chamkour fort(in this 40 men, 2 elder son were with guru ji and 2 sons got seprated at sirsa ). Chamkour fort was built of mud and was not a strong base to fight. After 2 days, army surrounded chamkour fort consisting of 1 million men and inside were only 42 sikhs. Since fort was on a hill and when army tried to capture at one instance, army suffered a great loss as sikhs welcomed with arrows. Guru ji had great skills of archery(Guru ji once said, they learned skills of archery from practice and is not magical power provided by god ) and guru ji killed leaders in the fight who planned to capture the fort with one instant. After suffering a huge lose, wazir khan moved his army back out of the range of arrows and surrounded the fort from a distance so they cannot be hit by arrows. Since, there was less food inside the fort, guruji decided to send group of 5 sikhs each day to fight against million. After three days, 5 groups were martyred including guruji 2 elder sons. When guruji decided to fight in next day group, remaining sikhs ordered guruji to leave the fort with 3 other sikhs. Guru ji obeyed the order and they gave their royal dress to other sikh and left the fort barefoot(they go barefoot because while leaving the fort, their shoes would touch the hairs of martyr sikhs which is believed wrong in sikhs psychology). Due to storm and strong wind, no one recogonized guruji and guru escaped easily from there.
After they heard news that their young sons has been killed by wazir khan, they wrote a Zafarnama(letter of victory) to Aurangzeb. Aurangzeb was also extremist and when guru ji told that auranzeb's followers broke promise of quran sharif and how they used illegal way to capture guruji, gave a shock to aurangzeb and his life became sad . After few days, aurangzeb died due to heart attack as he was so ashamed about the acts his fellowers did to capture guru.
Let me translate the starting(the one without subtitles)
"Education is a treasure, Education can do the most powerful works that even AK47(a gun) can't do,
Aurangzeb was strong, he didn't loose a battle but he lost when guru gobind singh ji sent zafarnama to him(as they made him realize, what he has done, all the bad deeds),
Zafarnama is a letter, a letter of victory which was brought to aurangzeb's court by bhai daya singh ji and bhai dharam Singh ji.
When aurangzeb read the zafarnama he couldn't stand up( as he was shocked to realise what he has done)
At the starting of the letter 'say waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh' was written, aurangzeb didn't Say that, but a maulwi(masjid priest) adviced him to say that as he believed by saying this he will not have to struggle to die
Not only aurangzeb but massa rangad, and everyone else who's trying to eradicate sikhism can only die peacefuly by hailing the one lord(waheguru ji ka khalsa, waheguru ji ki fateh)
Well india was divided into so many smaller area those were governed by other little leaders. So guru gobind singh was a king of anandpur sahib but had a influence over undivided punjab. But the emperor had the largest area and was in india’s capital “delhi”. The rivalry between guru and aureng-jeb was only becauseguru was preaching abiut sikhism. And mughal emperor didn’t like that.

Guru gobind singh ji was the teacher of sikhs. He did not rule over anyone. He wanted independence and independent thinking for all. All the sikhs followed him because of his knowledge and leadership with their own will not by force. On the other hand , Aurangzeb was the ruler of india ( india at that time- Punjab+pakistan+bangladesh,etc.). He was a muslim and wanted every person living in india to become muslim. He began slaughtering sikhs who didn't convert into muslimism.( not hindus because hindus came to sikhs for protection although sikhs were very less in no. than hindus. Probably because their religion never taught them to fight back.) This led to beheading of 9th guru ( guru teg bahadur ji ) by Aurangzeb. Guru gobind singh ji then became 10th guru of sikhs at the age even less than 16 years! And he managed to lead the sikhs ( U can think how much knowledgeable person he was and his leadership qualities). He led the fight for independent thinking against the orthodox muslim ruler Aurangzeb ( who didn't even know thatt independent thinking or independence for all was promoted by his own religion also. And muslimism also didn't teach that other religions must be destroyed.) Which guru gobind singh ji taught him with his letter telling Aurangzeb his bad deeds along with his good deeds also(guru gobind singh ji treated good as good and bad as bad ). At the end Aurangzeb realized that he had done wrong and also that the teaching of sikhism was correct that there is only one god which is common for all. And then he died in this grief . This proves how educated sikh gurus were at that time( in 15 th century ) and how good and true is the knowledge given by them in gurbani or guru granth sahib ji. I suggest u to read gurbani everyday.

I wish there was a better translation. So many errors.. Completely left out the analogies and metaphors. The poetic nature of the letter was completely lost in translation. It seems like the translator used big words to make it sound fancy but just made it harder to understand. This was exact opposite of what Guru Gobind Singh ji did in Zafarnama - he used very simple farsi but wrote it so poetically that any farsi speaking person could read and understand and be moved by it.

Guru means mentor , our leader , our teacher who teaches us the values of our life but we used to call them king (badshah) because he is king of us , he is our leader and one more thing he was very rich like a king before his family spilt at sarsa river and lost everything so ,he is called ( badshah= king , darwesh= sufi asprint ) . This history is very painful . Pls if you have some tym search about battle of Chamkaur when 42 fought with 1 million . They chose to fight till death but didn't surrender because that was going to real death the death of conscience and look they are immortal because they are going to remember as great history of valour and courage . Basically about promise break thing. So when mughal armies besieged Anandpur fort where Guru Gobind Singh was residing. Mughal armies attacked but the waves were repulsed back and then Mughal army seiged the fort to make soldiers starve to make them surrender. Then Mughal general promised Guru Gobind Singh a safe passage if he hands over the fort and they took oath on holy book of Islam quran . But as soon as Sikhs left the fort they broke their promise and attacked.

Aurangzeb was emperor of India at those times at Delhi under mughal empire. Under his orders everything against sikhism was done. He wanted to finish sikhism and spread Islam.

As u know the zafarnama was written persian lauguage of the mughal rulers of india who were hell bent on coverting the masses into the folds of islam, guru gobind singh(lion) ji stood up to tyranny and the khalsa army put an end auragzeb and defeated the mughals and there tyranical ruler, all of the gurus family were martyred, the khalsa still fights on.

pretty poor subtitles.. just using heavy english words even in places where they didn't make sense.. could have kept it simple and conveyed the meaning rather than trying to show off with heavy words and losing the meaning..
The translating u r getting is not perfect. Bcs many words from our language dont have a perfect replacement in english.
