Go look for urself I’ve tried it and my takeaways were that saucer passes are a lot easier to do and quicker. The stick feels a bit lighter when stick handling. When shooting the blade opens a lot quicker and therefore makes it very easy to shoot quickly and lastly I felt that backhands were easier too because the blade was already at an angle to elevate the puck easily
I don’t lock my thumb around the blade and I question whether the best stick handlers in fact do this. I find that my top hand moves a lot. My fingers are sometimes more spread out and my thumb will pinch one side of the shaft while my pointer and middle fingers counter press against the other. But it all depends on what I’m doing. I grip differently for a shot vs a toe drag vs a casual stick handle etc.
Woops forgot to say Datsyuk in your title bud.😂 Not knocking Kane he's probably 2nd best though
They are both right there.
Haha no question, can go either way with those two.
I’m not saying you are wrong, but why is it better? Do you have video evidence other great stick handlers all do this?

i'm gonna try this, although I feel like I naturally do this using a shorter stick.
Potentially very possible.
Great analysis! Is this grip just for stickhandling or for overall game? (Shooting, passing etc)?
Next course: How to be awesome at hockey like Wayne Gretzky. Week 1: Just do what he did.
