Listen. The Bruv Alfa Mist is our era version of Thelonious Monk. Also when he spits bars he has heat. Love the album. I got to see him live in Oakland last year and it was incredible. Wholly agree here 🥹 Saw him at the lodge room in LA last year and am fortunate to get to see him again at the Fonda theater this May as well. A shining star 🌌 Would second that I’d love for him to come down to SD, but well worth the trip regardless! Very thankful I could make the timing work.

i dont understand how people can say that there's no good music being made in the modern day. the sheer breadth of musical possibilities are broader than they ever have been. they will say "rap destroyed music" but i dont know, hearing bars being spit over jazzy tunes is something i never knew i needed. contemporary music at it's finest to be found right here

This album is a mix of highlights from each decade of jazz. Sounds 60's, 70's, 80's and a touch of 90's production.
Definitely my favourite Alfa's album so far.

I've listened to this album a few times now, and while the music is superb, the real star of the show is the soul-bearing lyrics from the man himself. Mental illness, systemic oppression, Loneliness, and Future Anxiety are all covered by Alfa, leading to a more subdued, soulful, sound, which makes the more active tracks like Apho and BC shine even brighter, aided by the continuous format of this album. The progressive experimentalism ties the entire thing together, and completes the package with a sound that's masterful, methodical, and soulful, without being too much of a downer to never listen to it on normal days. Overall, an excellent album from Mr. Sekitoleko!

Absolutely mesmerizing.
Amazing album. The evolution is really great to hear. I was able to see him live last year in Berlin and it was really moving to see how much energy, effort and soul everyone put into the music, pouring their hearts into it. Hearing this type of music live really enriches the experience so much - it's the way Jazz was meant to be experienced.

The BEAUTY, sonically AND visually, is soul-stirring, breath-taking, stimulating AND soothing, simultaneously! WOW! This makes me wish I was still teaching high school English so I could project this on the big AV screen while playing before/between classes! Great amazing visuals that do pay respect , and fit so well with a fantastic album. Nice balance of great vocal and instrumental tracks. 4th Feb and BC being my favs.
I get that most morphing/transitions are most probably interpolated by some AI process, still I wonder how much work/preparation goes into those 45 minutes of awesome visual trip. Musically and visually, a masterpiece it is.
It's kinda sad to see such a great artist use AI for their videos. There's even certain points where the signatures of the artists whose art is being stolen pops up.
@@heliotroph3750 Why sad? Why the opposition? ... because he's a "great artist", he or his label should not commission another artist, SPOD, to name him, to provide stunning visuals for his music, by the means of AI assisted graphics?
Is resorting to AI necessarily wrong ? Necessarily a disappointment? Necessarily taking the easy option?
For SPOD, I guess, it's a mean to an end, a part of his toolset to achieve the desired outcome. Believe me, behind these mesmerizing morphing blue dreams, there are still hours if not days of work to put all this in motion in the intended way.
And by the way, most if not all of the source material come from the paintings of Kaya Thomas Dyke, the band's bassist. Also responsible for the album cover and lyrics/vocals on "Aged eyes" . It's a full collab between Kaya, SPOD, Alfa and band, so ... really,... nothing sad here.
