I'm a bit worried that the nazis are generally shown as faceless, inhuman monsters. It would make it too easy for the viewers to distance themselves from then solely on surfacial features. But the whole basic problem with the holocaust was that everyone, respected neighbor, beloved familymember, dear friend, could turn to their side and support a genocide. Being a Nazi is not about looking evil. It's about hatret disguised as worry for "our culture". It's about xenophobia that paints their victims as inhuman and as a peril for "good people like us". We shouldn't punch nazis because they march in groups and look all the same. We should punch them becacuse of the ideology they spread and the things they do.
While that’s all true, this isn’t a story about Nazi’s. this is a story about Anne and Kitty, and how Anne saw the world as it shaped around her. It makes sense for them to be faceless, bodyless monsters because that’s how they were seen. This story would undoubtedly teach those lessons, but it isn’t about them.
You said "We shouldn't punch nazis because they march in groups and look all the same. We should punch them becacuse of the ideology they spread and the things they do." This is ironic, as antisemitic propaganda uses similar language. The Nazis didn't persecute Jews based on physical appearance. Sure, they used that in propaganda against them, but most German Jews just looked like Germans. Hell, Nazi Joseph Goebbels looked more like a racist character of a Jew than most Jews did, and he was like the Michael Jordan of Nazism. The Nazis spread propaganda that the Jewish people were spreading disease and accused them of being political dissidents. There were a handful of Jewish academics at the time, a very small group, that were promoting some pretty heinous stuff, so the Nazis took that and accused all Jews of sharing in this fringe ideology. The public was told not to listen to Jewish lies. When a Jew said something publicly they were accused of using communistic dogwhistles. Jewish writing was viewed as a sort of rabbit hole of deception. And the best part, one of the biggest talking points of the Nazis was something along the lines of "Look at how angry the Jew gets when you expose him for being a Jew!" But, to the Nazis, what made a Jew a Jew in the first place? Well, Nazi's decided who counted as Jewish. There were several Jews declared "Honorary Aryans" by Himmler for their contributions to the arts. Goebbels was a fan of film director Fritz Lang, who was partly Jewish. Goebbels of course fled Germany, because when it came to dystopian techno-tyrannies, he would much rather make a film about one than for one. "So what is a Jew? Someone we hate. And why do we hate them? Because they're a Jew." If Nazis, and I mean real Nazis, were around today they would persecute the Jews by accusing them of being, of all things, Nazis. If you say to me, "that guy's a nazi, you should clock him," I'm going to wonder why I can't just talk to him. I want to understand him. I want to know why he thinks the way he does. I doubt he just woke up in the morning one day and just decided to be full of hate from then on. And just like that, I'm a Nazi too in your eyes. "So what is a Nazi? Someone we hate. And why do we hate them? Because they're a Nazi." People are so easy to control. All you need is a little anger, a little fear, and a few words with malleable definitions. Just point them in the desired direction and say "that's the [jew, nazi, commie, maga hat] destroying our society" and boom, instant Brownshirts.
@@friendlyghosthost1830 You mean the small group of morons that dwindles day by day, or the gaggle of fifteen-year-old tradcath groypers that aren't so much nazis as just kind of racists with fedoras? Look, I get that there are neo nazis in the world today, but hear me out. There always have been and always will be people like them. But you know who else is still around? People who build their academic career around advocating for the view that child molestation is "a healthy part of a child's sexual development." You know who else? People who try to subvert culture in order to destabilize a society. These groups are small, but they exist. And in Germany in the 30s they were getting pretty big. Ever seen Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade? There's a scene where the Nazis are burning huge piles of books. Why were they burning them? You'd think because the authors were Jewish, and that is most definitely part of it, but the Nazis didn't burn Jewish made woodcrafts or Jewish made embroidery. It was all about the books, specifically the academic books. You see, around this time the field of psychology, which was huge in Germany, was in its early stages and hadn't quite gotten the kinks out, and by kinks I really do mean kinks. Much like the early gay rights movement, it was descended upon by pedophiles. And just like the early gay rights movement, they got a lot of people to go along with them, and even advocate on their behalf. Because pedophiles don't just groom children, they groom anyone isolated and vulnerable. If you don't believe me, go to San Francisco and find an old gay guy. He'll tell you about the NAMBLA float that used to show up at every pride parade, and how most of them didn't want it there. But I digress. Most of the people getting called Nazis these days are anything but. Some of them are Jewish for God's sake. I opened up the news last week and I heard CNN, THE CNN, saying that "freedom" is a "far right talking point," because a non-violent group of Canadian truckers are honking too much. Multiple recent polling has shown that 45%-47% of democrat voters in the U.S. are in favor of putting the unvaccinated into internment camps. Even though there are multiple preexisting conditions that make certain vaccines very dangerous for a small group of people. I'm watching the elderly get disowned by their own children and grandchildren because Granny bought a red hat. The term "far right" is used to describe the moderate left. But forget all that. The point I'm making is simple. If you're walking down the street in a public place, and I point at you and scream, "Nazi!" at the top of my lungs, you're going to get smacked, or far, far worse. If the government or media can paint all Jews as communist pedophiles who secretly control the media, then they can paint anyone they want to as a nazi. Especially if we confuse what that word really means. And why would you ever listen to what a Nazi has to say? Of course he's not going to admit he's a Nazi! It's hard to tell who they are. We need some kind of mark for them to wear on their shirt so we can identify them. Then the people know who to punch and the grocery stores know who to refuse business to. About that; things might get a little dangerous if fights keep happening. And without anyone willing to let them buy food, they might starve. Perhaps we should put them in a separate part of town for both their own safety as well as that of the general public. Of course, in the long run, we can't keep spending money just to protect the intolerant. There they are, in their own sequestered section of town where nobody goes, free from prying eyes, possibly planning another January 6th. "Never Again" is not just for the Jewish people. A holocaust can be inflicted upon anyone, and by anyone, and the first step is dehumanization. Of course, I'm not saying that there's going to be some kind of holocaust in America of people falsely labeled as nazis. That's hyperbolic and implausible. Instead I'm talking about a certain spirit in which many people act. All I'm really saying is this: I'm no Nazi, but if I'm called one, what keeps you from punching me?

wooooahh were learning about anne frank and stuff at school so, having this movie come out would be so cool! and turning "kitty" into her own character is such a cool concept!
Why am I seeing so many not good for kids comments? In the lion king Simba's dad gets killed by his own brother. In Bambi, Bambi's mother gets shot. Prince of Egypt had tons of death and plenty of talks on racism. In many kids movies death and group based hate is a very real and very shown topic and is a part of everyday life sadly. We can't shelter our children forever and by doing so you can even hurt them. The world can become overwhelming for them and they may not know how to cope with it if they have never been exposed to these topics prior to encountering them. Please don't just write this off as not kid friendly because it has "death" and talks of racism, this may be a great learning moment for them if you let it be.
Man, this hit me back and forth with a lot of surprises, despite having an idea of what the material would be. At first, I thought it'd be THAT kind of introspective movie revolving around Anne's mind through the eyes of Kitty-but then it threw me in for a loop when it shifted a lot in perspective and fast forwarded into present era, feeling more like a game trailer with Kitty's dialogue. Hope I get the chance to see this film someday.

I don't know why but I've always been both appalled and fascinated by the events of the Holocaust, the survivors, even Anne Frank. I will never forget going to an exhibit when I was young. I always found her story captivating and now that it's being made into an animated film, I will have to see where the story takes us.
read elie wiesel and zalmen gradowski’s stories
If you find that fascinating, you should also read the Jewish bible, the Talmud! Lots of interesting stuff in there. :)
@@AryanVIP-f1o I have read a number of religious texts, but I need to read the Kaballah. I’d love to read the Talmud !

@Shaun Jay I’ve heard of Maus but never read it.
We should punch them becacuse of the ideology they spread and the things they do."
This is ironic, as antisemitic propaganda uses similar language.
And the best part, one of the biggest talking points of the Nazis was something along the lines of "Look at how angry the Jew gets when you expose him for being a Jew!"
But, to the Nazis, what made a Jew a Jew in the first place? Well, Nazi's decided who counted as Jewish. There were several Jews declared "Honorary Aryans" by Himmler for their contributions to the arts. Goebbels was a fan of film director Fritz Lang, who was partly Jewish. Goebbels of course fled Germany, because when it came to dystopian techno-tyrannies, he would much rather make a film about one than for one.
"So what is a Jew? Someone we hate. And why do we hate them? Because they're a Jew."
If Nazis, and I mean real Nazis, were around today they would persecute the Jews by accusing them of being, of all things, Nazis.
Because they're a Nazi."
People are so easy to control. All you need is a little anger, a little fear, and a few words with malleable definitions. Just point them in the desired direction and say "that's the [jew, nazi, commie, maga hat] destroying our society" and boom, instant Brownshirts.
@@OniKensei you know neo nazi are STILL around right? They’re not in power but the ideology isn’t dead just because hitler died.
All I'm really saying is this:
I'm no Nazi, but if I'm called one, what keeps you from punching me?
@@friendlyghosthost1830 that's like being worried about the rising sun empire because some old geezers and some teens on 4chan worship it as a good thing .

By the title, I was expecting to be angered by disrespect towards Anne Frank (and Holocaust victims in general) but I was surprised to find that this holds really good storytelling in a respectful and thought-provoking manner. I’m definitely gonna watch the movie now
It genuinely looks really touching. Think I ‘m going to give this a watch when it comes to my country.

1:47 "I see angels, Peter" hits different if you know what actually happened to Anne Frank and her family...
As if anyone doesn't, lol
At first, I thought this was just another "life and times of Anne Frank" story. Then I read the description. This might be one of the most imaginative ideas I've ever come across.
Imagination that is absolutely truly inspirational for generations to come. Never imagining any other way!!!
I think they might get the imaginary friend coming to life, right.
I like this... it manages to make a fantasy story around a real person, without just changing their entire story, instead the imaginary friend appears far later, when the story has been completed and is simply a memory that a magical imaginary friend is trying to get to again
I wasn't expecting this, I thought along with the romanticism it would be a lot of creative licensing taking place because "kids films" but this actually looks good and I actually want to see it.
"I see angels Peter", sounds bitter sweet to me.
The personification of a diary coming to life and looking for their writer, that’s amazing!
If the child can’t do the profession, we see them as children.
What does that mean?
@Naruto🍜 ok
This animation style is ridiculously beautiful and it's crazy how no one has said anything about it
Usually Anne Frank film adaptations are a little repetitive following or covering the same key points, and adding or taking out some details. But this film takes an interesting look on Anne's relationship with her diary, and Kitty being a friend and her emotional support.
Honestly can't believe that is not on Netflix yet I really want to watch it
I liked the part where she wished for a ballpoint pen from the future and the genie gave it to her.
wooooahh were learning about anne frank and stuff at school so, having this movie come out would be so cool! and turning "kitty" into her own character is such a cool concept!
You ever wonder why bikes tell you they're hated but never tell you WHY they're hated?
The animation style looks so beautiful!
I love it so much! I can't for it to come out in the USA soon!
Anne Frank is my hero!
When does it come out in the usa
The film is gonna be released at march 18 2022 (USA)

Man, this hit me back and forth with a lot of surprises, despite having an idea of what the material would be. At first, I thought it'd be THAT kind of introspective movie revolving around Anne's mind through the eyes of Kitty-but then it threw me in for a loop when it shifted a lot in perspective and fast forwarded into present era, feeling more like a game trailer with Kitty's dialogue. Hope I get the chance to see this film someday.
I read the graphic novel that was the inspiration for the animation of this movie it and the whole story made me cry , I cant believe people would be so terrible to treat people like that because of ethnicity or religion, my heart goes out to all the people who lost anyone in the holocaust
Yes it was because of ethnicity and religion and not because of what happened immediately prior to it happening.
