How to maintain Heliconia plants

In this video, Janne, the owner of Bamboo Land shows us how he maintains the Heliconia plants in spring. We recorded this video two weeks into spring to show you the best time to give your plants some good old tlc. In spring, we should clear away any old growth from last season to allow for the new growth to shine in our garden.
Heliconias are impressive tropical plants, in some species like the Heliconia bihai x caribaea 'Hot Rio Nights' their massive bright red flowers can grow to half a meter long! The Hot Rio Nights has a tight clumping and upright growth habit with nice clean stems - a truly excellent landscaping plant!
