When in the intro started, my volume was higher than I expected in my headphones and I literally freaked out lol 😂😂

@@astramox7015 slowly so you can build core strength, and you can also control your breathing better. but for exercise purposes you can alternate between fast then slow.

I always run out of breath while singing. When I'm singing (by myself of course 😅) I'll be "nailing" a note but my chest gets tight and I'll lose the note and my breath

I like to do long AE. Two weeks ago, I was out of breath after 15 seconds. Tonight I did 32 seconds. Tomorrow I’ll rewatch this video and see how long I can last. What helps me is to keep the resonance closer to the head.

@Alex Manuel *Excellent idea!* Although _my_ whistle register shut down with age and environmental contamination of my pulmonary tract, a number of guys out there can hit notes beyond A6 and Tara has the know-how for consistency at sky-high pitches.

Oh, I thought that was what you tackled already in the video in titled "how to stick a note". You did that thing where you drew a rainbow with your index finger and time do your note duration to that. OK, I am game for all the advice you can give! I've been looking up how to improve my breath control these last few weeks anyway. I've gotten better, but I'm open to more advice!

Can you do a video on the MASK, how to activate the MASK, placement in the MASK, and placement of sound on the roof of the mouth when singing in MASK. Does every note high, medium and low are all placed in the MASK. Is Mask same as pharyngeal placement? Why do people say sing in MASK and why do people say sing through the front teeth above lips? Funny how visual can affect your performance in anything. When I climb certain sharp hills in bicycle, I can reach the top when I look down the road beneath the wheels. But if I looked toward the top of the hill, I could not reach the top. With certain things in music, visualizing them or using limbs help a lot.
That was fun doing it with my 6 year old, she is the singer at home. She just started doing it on her own.
Can starting with Classical and Opera relate to all genera?
I’m not a vocal coach, but what I do know is Classical and Opera don’t exactly relate to all genres. Of course all genres have some things in common; vocal warmups, proper breathing, etc. If you were to sing Opera and want to switch to something like rock music, it would be difficult because they are two different styles and one is a bit more aggressive sounding than the other. Hope this helps :)
If you have mastered how to use your voice, then you should theoretically be able to sing anything in any style.

I find it a tad difficult to count beats a capella. I used to play the violin and was bad at counting there too. I kinda lose concentration on the note when I concentrate on counting beats.

I don't think I have the best voice but i'd like to practice to see if somehow I can get a better voice through practice. I've always believed that you just have to be born with a singing talent in order to sound good lol
My philosophy is singing is 90% mental and 10% talent so keep going and keep growing. Practice makes awesome!

Just curious as to what number we’re aiming for with the hiss. I just tried it out. I did it 3 times. The first time I got 30 secs, the second I got 34 secs, and the third I got 35. Is that good?

Hi Tara, are your courses recorded videos or live lessons? The reason I ask is that I am visually impaired and if I could learn just by hearing the instruction and technique because if it is quite visual I may miss things.
They’re basically videos just like they are on TH-cam. There are some visual demonstrations she does, but there’s also a comments section that Tara can personally respond to (and does quite often) if you have questions.

Hey Tara! I would like to ask for an advice to hold notes longer!
I have a good lung capacity, I can hold the Hissing exercise for almost 50 seconds, with a consistent sound, but when it comes to hold notes longer, it’s pretty difficult for me to keep in the same note! It seems like the note kind of “falls down” I think I have lots of air, but I don’t use the it properly! What do you think I can do to improve it?
