An example of how 80 series Toyota Land Cruiser prices have gone up since 2018

This 1993 Toyota Land Cruiser seems like it is in generally pretty good shape, but it lacks maintenance records/history and has a very poor paint job. It’s not all bad as it appears to have not really rusted out too bad from a life in Colorado.

I can't believe that BAT allowed this to be approved for a 'Reserve' auction, they are very particular about certain things not being allowed to have a reserve and IMHO this shouldn't really qualify. Now if it were flawless with under 100K miles on the ODO I'd be inclined to expect a reserve but this is a high mileage example and very much looks to be a quick flip that was gussied up with a lift, wheels/tires and a nice detail job in order to try and double their money.

The yellowing means definite repaint - like you mention original were single stage, repainted white probably had cheap clear coat which yellowed. Looks like there are some things being covered up with this truck. Will be interesting to see what it goes for. Doesn't seem like a traditional BAT worthy truck to me, but things have changed.

Your last sentence rings pretty true to me. However, I also think "bring a trailer" kind of implies the vehicle is a project, but yeah, this is more like "bring your junk".

@@thelandcruiserprojectWell it used to imply that you were buying a rare project but it has certainly turned into an over priced pissing match site for very clean and high value vehicles for the most part these days. There are exceptions and certain categories that bring much more reasonable prices and everyday examples but this truck kinda smells of a bit of a late evening turd with a quick polish job that is hoping to catch a bit of that setting sun so that it can have its moment to shine.

The most disappointing thing is the paint job. Someone took it to malco and paid 500.00 bucks for that job. You get what you paid for, it’s a shame too.

Yup. There weren't a lot of good undercarriage photos to tell for sure, but it's most likely AC condensation.
