Wow! Nice flathead. I live on the Mississippi coast near Biloxi and fish alot. I went fishing yesterday for 4 hours and nothing bit. There is just to much fresh water getting dumped into the sound. The rain has got to go somewhere. Anyway thanks for the encouragement, I will fish again.

There was a spot on lake Barkley below a family members house that I fished for years with little luck. Kept trying new locations around the cove and styles of fishing and I can now go there and haul in fish with probably 80% success rate. Took a lot of time on the water to figure out the terrain and where the fish were at what time.
I've caught a few good fish in the same river dave 25-30 pounds not big fish necessarily but good for the small river in Logan county much love from wv dave

I fish the dillion dam reservoir. Theres a spot where the spillway meets a tributary. We use gold fish. I told my son wait till dark and they will start biting. We had no hits until sunset. And then boom. One after another. Huge shovelheads.But that's our spot and it never fails. .

I wanted to go out hard for flatheads this year but our lake is flooded, water will be going over the spillway tonight and there is no telling how bad it will get down river. With the lake so flooded, there are not any good places to put in and the fish are so spread out I dont know what to do. Lake of the Ozarks may end up getting closed to traffic soon due to Truman Dam's inability to hold back any more water. The Missouri from KC to St Louis is closed, the Osage below Bagnell that makes the Ozarks is closed to traffic as well. Its bad and it looks like it is going to get worse.
I watch your videos and I've never seen you fish Norris lake. Are there any skipjack in Norris? I live about 5 miles from there and I'd like to try it out. Thanks. Great videos.

Hey Dave, how often do you go out vs how often do you catch? I'm hooking a decent sized fish about 1 out of every 4 or 5 trips, the others are dinks or I get skunked. I'm trying to switch up my spots to see if that helps, upgraded to a larger, heavier rod to get more cast distance and I only use fresh caught bluegill or frozen skipjack (when I can get them - skips seem to be absent lately).
I know this is true. Fishing the same spot that I know produces is how I got my biggest cat. That hole looks a lot like the one I fish. I caught one that weighed thirty or better and that's a good one for the area I fish.
Thanks for another adventure with you Dave! I've been trying large bait the past few weeks. I've upgraded my reels to clickers. I'm having trouble with the hook set. It starts to take it but when I go to set the hook I can feel the fish. Several large ones in fact. One felt like I was setting to a rock! But then a second later the fish isn't there... Am I setting too early? It's as if they only had the bait and not the hook. Any advice Dave?

85 lb. is the record flathead in Tennessee, hiwassee river
