Union Tourism and Culture Minister G Kishan Reddy made the announcement on Sunday while addressing the National Conference of State Tourism Ministers on Sunday. He said after vast consultations and deliberations with stakeholders, the policy is at the concluding stage and will soon be placed before the Union Cabinet. The policy aims to bring about some much-needed reforms in the tourism and hospitality sector, which is one of the largest service industries in India. For India to achieve the goal of becoming a $5 trillion economy and a developed nation, the tourism sector has a huge role and potential, to harness which the Tourism policy has laid down various objectives. Five key areas would be given significant focus in the next 10 years -
    green tourism,
    digital tourism,
    destination management,
skilling the hospitality sector and supporting tourism-related to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

Reality is...tourism is one of the least paying sector...i worked almost 10years before covid when i lost my job at salary of 35k only..imagine 10yrs and 35k which is initial in any IT industry job...even a topmost level wont get more than a couple of lakhs at max..and getting to that level is not everyones cup of tea in this sector..the very reason i started preparing for government sector..to have a stable career at least..rest is secondary 🙏

Thank you panelists for giving a viable insight about tourism industry. Destination development & destination management is the game changer for the tourism industry & it will play a pivotal role for achieving 5 trillan dollar Indian economy. India has a lot of famous destinations to attract the foreign tourist but it is pathetic that we could attract only 2% tourist. It is not because of lack of destination and connectivity but because of poor management of destination. However, transportation is improved to some extent but lots of thing to do. There should be proper cleaning in each & every destination. For this we need to sensitize the people like swatch bharat abhiyan rigorously. There has to be destination places like Universal Studios in many areas. Also, rail & road connectivity should be proper. Everyone knows that Leh & Laddakh is the favorite destination in India to visit but it has no road & rail connectivity. It is the need of hour to take the tourism sector seriously to create the job opportunity because there is huge potential.
