They did not call him naive. Craig said that he plays with “the naïveté of youth”. This is a phrase which means that the kid is so young that he is unaware of the pressure that would hinder older players. Because of this he feels free to express himself in the most skillful, beautiful way without a care in the world. Every member of this panel has nothing but the highest praise for the kid. Why are you all so under educated?

I don't think they meant it that way, I think it was more of a "this kid doesn't have the usual 'dear in headlights' mentality on the big stage, he attempts goals from 30 feet down 0-1 in a semi final"
Like how most older players know the magnitude of the match so they try to get the best possible shot on goal, while Yamal at least seems to not care or doesn't know that yet.
But naive is definitely the wrong word to use

Thats ironic right!? I’m not that smart. Anyways, enough making fun of you.
You honestly think he is Naive to the pressure!? He was almost in tears after he scored. So perhaps it isn’t me being obtuse as you so articulately got wrong, but he fully understands the pressure and he is rising above the pressure nonetheless. He plays at Barcelona. One of the worse teams to play for if you are a player unable to manage their nerves. Griezman, Dembele, Coutinho, Paulinha, and so many other players failed due to managing the pressure they expect from their players! You can’t play a season on adolescent nerves or naivety. You can’t play a season consistently performing at his level due to being an ignorant yute to quote Breakfast Club. McManaman said more or less the same thing. I was responding to the thumbnail as well understanding quite well what it meant. But hey, the one thing you can do is cross “obtuse” off your list of words you got into a conversation. Good on you.

Ousmane Dembele is 27 years old, yet every time I watch him play, he’s playing as if he’s a kid playing a pickup game and he’s a professional footballer. How much longer are we gonna continue to give Dembele excuses when it’s been the exact same story for him at both club and international level and the guy isn’t even getting injured anymore and he still plays like a League Two player outside of a couple of dribbles. When it comes to dribbling past other defenders 1v1 and what he does on the ball, that part makes him a good winger, but when it comes to his end product like his finishing or final ball, it’s absolutely shocking and as much as people like to say “leave him alone, it’s not just about scoring”, you’re not wrong on that as goals can’t be the only metric to determine how good a winger is, but you’re an attacker that can use both feet and you don’t know how to finish.
You need to have some statistical output as he seems to be a player looking for highlights. Apart from a couple of assists, he has never scored a goal in a major tournament for France and since the 2022 World Cup, he has only 1 goal for his country and that was during their whopping 14-0 win against a lower ranked country and for someone who’s supposed to be an elite winger that’s unacceptable and he doesn’t look like a player who’s good enough to be starting for the national team and he would’ve been benched if Kingsley Coman was fully healthy and didn’t struggle with injuries once again. Look at what Lamine Yamal did today, he’s only 16 years old and sure he has all the skill in his locker and has an great highlight reel that I’ve watched many times, at least he was able to score a goal from outside of the box when his team was down by a goal and that’s called being a difference maker and doing something productive in the final third meanwhile Dembele sucks at finishing and doesn’t know when to make the right pass or shot. At the EUROs, he had 0 goals and 0 assists, I mean how are you expected to produce meaningful output in attack when your team only scored 1 goal from open play.

This is a rebuke to Adrian Rabiot's comment. But those experienced players around him and the coach should tell him not to get these comments into his head. Michael Jordan ( maybe you don’t know the NBA) was known to absolutely feed off the negative comments of his opponents. Same with Tom Brady, C. Ronaldo even Messi at the last World Cup. It’s part of their DNA and it certainly should not be contained.
Lamine Yamal is on the path to being an all time great player. He already has the skill and the mentality at his young age and the only thing now that can stop him is a loss of form or desire due to injury or outside distractions like fame, money and women.

I mean after the mess that happened in the 2010 World Cup where some players were sent home and there was a dysfunction surrounding their squad, who would’ve thought that 8 years later, they would become world champions again combined with the fact that there was a period where he took them to 3 finals in the last 4 major tournaments from 2016-2022 and while they didn’t always win as they lost the EURO final in 2016 and World Cup final in 2022, at least he’s managed to lead them to either the semifinals or final and at times they haven’t always been the best team. He has been criticized for his conservative approach and how he sets his team up to not lose the game rather than play on the front foot since they’re known for being a disciplined team defensively and it worked for the most part at the EUROs where their solid defense made up for their lack of actual goals from open play and they finally scored a goal from open play, but this time against Spain, their luck ran out once and for all.
In my opinion, yes he led them to the semifinals and they had to go up against a very good team, with the way that they play under him, it’s not always going to be sustainable. You can’t expect yourself to defend for 90 minutes hit on the counter attack and then boom give the ball to Kylian Mbappe, let Antoine Griezmann impact the game and everyone get out of the way because this worked for France in previous tournaments, but when you have 2 of your most reliable players out of form, they don’t have any ideas in attack. Ousmane Dembele plays like a player who’s looking for highlights rather than someone who is trying to score, Olivier Giroud barely plays anymore and his time with the national team looks to be over, Marcus Thuram isn’t good enough to be their starting striker as he hasn’t translated his club form when he plays for his country, how do you expect yourself to actually score goals from open play when you don’t have a lot of creativity in midfield despite having so many talented midfielders and tactically speaking, Zidane would be a better manager than him on paper and he would be suited to international football and with him out of a job if Deschamps decides to leave he would be the perfect replacement and he has a good resume as well despite not managing a team in over 3 years. As great as he’s been for the national team, you don’t expect him to be their manager forever no offense. the French federation won’t sack Deschamps as the only way he would leave is if he goes into their office and tells them that he would want to step down.

Mbappe playing the role in the middle would have kept in a more dangerous role regardless of how Spain decided to defend him. They have plenty of guys who can go 1v1 on the wings. Otherwise he should have started Greizmann.

As a result his natural talent and skills are on full display, with an innocence that is beautiful to watch. And he does it without a care in the world. Listen again to the whole show and see if you hear anything except the absolute highest praise from everyone on the panel for Lamal.

Every single one of the panel had nothing but the absolutely highest praise for the kid. Not a single word of criticism.

After the game Lamin said Speak Now says a lot
if you actually read between the lines what Rabiot said is that Lamin needs to do more that can be read as Lamin has done nothing so far. and it is a challenge.
To be fair I don't see nothing wrong with Rabiot statement. But I loved Lamin's response that's all.

Oh, verily, let us extol the prodigious talents of young Lamine Yamal, whose prodigious abilities on the hallowed pitch are nothing short of a divine revelation. At an age when most lads are but mere fledglings, this prodigious virtuoso has already inscribed his name in the annals of footballing lore.
Behold his dribbling, a balletic symphony of movement, where he doth glide past defenders with the grace of a celestial being. His feet, like nimble fairies, dance upon the verdant sward, weaving a tapestry of bewilderment and awe. Opponents, ensnared by his beguiling footwork, are rendered as statues, unable to impede his inexorable advance.
His composure, nay, his serenity, is that of a seasoned gladiator in the Colosseum, undaunted by the baying throngs. In moments of supreme tension, when lesser mortals might falter, Yamal remains as placid as a becalmed sea, orchestrating his team's endeavors with a maestro's touch.
And lo, his goals! These are not mere strikes of fortune, but rather masterpieces of exquisite craftsmanship. Each one is a poetic ode to the beautiful game, a testament to his preternatural vision and precision. As the ball leaves his foot, it is as if it is guided by an unseen hand, destined to find its place in the net with unfaltering certainty.
In sum, Lamine Yamal is a luminary of unparalleled brilliance, a paragon of youthful excellence whose exploits on the field defy the very bounds of age and expectation. His future, undoubtedly, is as radiant as the midday sun, and his legacy shall be recounted in the grandest of bardic tales for generations to come.
