    The bottom half of the wagon is living and working history and the top half is the perfect compliment, very nice.

    How was the chuckwagon cook/cookie paid? Was he paid a percent of want the cowboys made and they paid him? Or was he paid by the cattle baron? Could a chuckwagon cook travel one way ergo they get to the disination the cook could stay?

    • @HorsePenRanch
      @HorsePenRanch  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great questions. He was usually paid by the job. And was paid by the same person paying the cowboys and the crew boss which was the cattle owner. Most the time the cook rode back the the cowboys back home. The wagon was usually sold at the end of the trail and they bought another back home for the next drive. Bringing the wagon back just sold the trip home down. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    Interesting that the trunk of autos in the UK are called the boot, just like the on the wagon.

    It's like an RV for cowboys...though some might wonder when do they get to enjoy the R. As a lifetime fan of the western film genre I would love to see the King Bolt if she has one. It is fascinating how much technology goes into something we all think of as old fashioned.

    • @HorsePenRanch
      @HorsePenRanch  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      She has one. It’s a long old bolt that holds the tongue on. I use the wheel wrench to hold the double tree on. Thanks for watching!!

    • @HorsePenRanch
      @HorsePenRanch  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Look around 7:30 in the video and you can see the bolt.

    Your yeast should really be stored in the ice box. It will last longer and work better refrigerated.

      @@brendanhill9916 You might be interested in the autographed copy of Richard Bolt's Forty Years Behind the Lid 😢 that I own. I think I paid around $40 for it, but I ain’t certain. It's just a little staple-backed, locally produced tome that has interest for historians of that region. The recipes are nothing that you don’t already know. If you want it.....let me know.

    Could you do a lineup video of all the seasonings/spices and such that you always keep on hand? Loving these videos. I cook outside a lot in the back yard and want to build a small shed for my smoker and such that I will build a chuck box in to feel a little authentic haha.
