Thank you Jeff! I tried fixing my Caesar’s Palace stunt cycle by following your instructions and found a gear and it works!

Thank you for the video. Just got a new one and on the first jump, the main rivet popped out.

The original bikes had very tough rivets. I had no clue the new CC ones were a softer, easier to drill out aluminum rivet, until last Monday. Wow!

Dry lubricant works best & ell not attract dirt. A brand name called
"dry fluids" works extremely well. We use it on big brushless electric, gas and nitro R/C helicopters. About $20 for a very small bottle, but it takes so little to work it's magic, it lasts forever.

Where do you buy it at? What about wd-40?

Thank you so much! My stunt cycles gears are starting to skip and click, but I am having a lot of trouble precisely drilling out the rivets- the bit is just dancing around the hole and I’m afraid that too much pressure will lead to me drilling through the plastic itself or even breaking the bike- by any chance do you have any advice??

I built a super launcher in 82 when i was 12 out of a old Electrolux power nozzle motor and it's on a dimmer switch for a light, it will easily send the cycle down the road till you can't see it anymore. Lol. I have jumped 68 ft and know it will go much farther than that, im gonna make a world record for the stunt cycle in the spring. Lol. Really

Those gears are very easily to find online and buy as well. Do you happen to know what size it is?

Is there a big difference in quality between the Ideal internals (gears & gyro) in comparison to the California Creations version

A silicone based lubricant would be better to use on plastic. Have you looked for replacement rivets?

I saw that you oiled it when putting it back together. Do you think it had any lubrication when new? I wonder how lithium grease would work on the gears. Also, if silicone spray would work to spray inside without disassembling.

The stunt cycle is lubricated when new. 3-1 oil is what many folks prefer. Some folks use bearing grease where the pins pass through the sides of the bike although I haven’t tried that. Just need to make sure the lubricant you use isn’t harmful to plastic. Also don’t over lubricate because it can fly out onto tire and then you’ll have significant traction issues. Hope this helps!

What size drill bit for the rivets ? After seeing this I wonder if there's actually any difference between this and the "pro' bike. Thanks for the info.

1/8” drill bit. The pro bike is different. The flywheel is mounted in metal bearings, it has a better rear tire and it’s held together with screws to allow for easy maintenance. It’s also styled to look more like the original stunt cycle from the seventies. If I could only keep one of the many bikes I’ve purchased in the last two years it would be the pro bike :)

It would be really cool if you could buy rivets for them. If using zip ties you could maybe use two in each spot by just chopping the ends off of one of them and use it on the end of the other …that way the zip ties do t have to wraparound the whole area ….it would be les zip tie material and look neat.

Some folks use cotter pins to replace the rivets. I’ve not tried them myself, but this might be another option for you to try. I really like the zip ties because they are so fast to snip and replace if I need to make quick repairs. I’ve also used your technique of using two zip ties per hole and it works well.
