I’m a ham radio operator who sits on a windy hill. I am about to purchase the newer Eskimo Outbreak 250XD with larger walk thru door. You gave me some confidence going forward with the purchase.
I thought that could be done. I went in my TIPI style tent at 11 below Fahrenheit temp. Stove worked well although every 2 hours I had to stoke it. That set up may be heavy for backpacking. I'll need to add a sled for winter camping. Overall great set up.
Yes, I'm also a Huge Fan and Subscriber of Chucks, Steve Wallis and Bushcraft Bsrtons. I've learned So much from them all 😊Now I've found you too ! You don't need to have thousands or Millions of subscribers in order to to make new ones 😁 I'm Very happy to meet you. I only have 43 subscribers myself, mostly I think because I don't know how to edit, which makes me not want to make any more videos cuz I can't pause and do anything else other than a "Run On Video ". Technology is not too good with me but lol, but I really Enjoy camping, cooking, shelter videos. I'm so grateful for your video here. The Ice fishing hut for Camping is, and always has been a Marvelous way of Shelter for the fall/Winter Camper. Just wish One Day I can Actually Experience it lol. Anyhow, thanks Very Much 😁👍👍👍
The outside canvas of the Eskimo is made with 600D polyester fabric, my understanding is that that fabric can be treated to become fire retardant but is it currently fire retardant without any additional application? Thanks
I don't know if it is resistant out of the box or not. I will tell you my experience with it. While I was working on it to modify it into a hot tent, I cut it with scissors to make the hole. To help keeping it from fraying, I used a butane lighter to melt the edges. So, I did touch it with an open flame, and it did not burst into fire, but the insulation layer did melt fast. I hope that helps answer your question.
Thank you for the suggestion, I will check that out. I had several issues on that trip, I thought ithe headlamp was aimed away, nope right at the camera. I also thought I had enough other light in the tent to film, nope, not at all. I'm getting better and learning.
Hello S&K! Watching your channel from Canada today! I subscribed! Hope we can support each other's site going forward! HOT CAMPING is difficult to imagine at these COLD times! Fun to see!
That would worry me a little. Remember, this thing was originally designed to be used for ice fishing, not a hot tent. It is probably not meant to get rained on. I don't know how the material would do. Are you saying I should test it? 😁 -Steve
@@johnhenry8839 Interesting. As far as shelters go, it certainly is easy to setup. If using with a wood stove, maybe don't use a Scotchgard for rainproofing, since it is so flammable. In Missouri, you have the benefits of actually having trees, maybe tie a tarp over it like a rainfly? That would give you the water protection.
That is available as an accessory on the Winterwell website for that stove. It is not a must-have, but certainly is nice and takes a lot of the worry away about melting the tent. Thanks for watching! -Steve
I have a normal Coleman Comfortsmart Deluxe cot, with the springs around the outside. It is very big. That one is just a little long for 1 side, part of the reason I did it at an angle. I have a new cot, without the springs around the outside, so it is a bit shorter. It may sit flat against that 1 side. As soon as I get to try it, I will let you know.
Nothing special about the parts. The stove jack I made out of a regular kitchen silicon mat, just cut to size and added velcro around the edges. The welding blankets were on Amazon. I don't think there was anything else I used. Let me know if there was and I'll find it.
Nice video. Great to see the insulated tent with the woodstove. Nothing left desired. :)
Thanks for the kind words! I do like camping with a stove, it is just nice.

The is awesome to hear. Eskimo makes good gear. The walls on my tent don't even wiggle in the wind.

Yes, the ice fishing hut is very heavy. I have used it truck camping. I think it could be done with a sled. That is a good idea, Gary.

Cozy setup, nice job
Thank you for watching! It was cozy and warm.
Very well done video here 👏..well explained for I to do the same..and it even came with chewing sounds of the steak that made my mouth water intensely
Glad you enjoyed the video. Thank you. And that steak was great , what I got to eat of it. Jazz had me share with her, which was fine. 😀

Hey pretty cool the way you modified it to fit your stove. That's an awesome little stove. Great video, cheers.
Thank you very much!
Nice stove and tent mod. I do like the name on your tent. I have an Eskimo auger. Thanks and take care.
That's weird that you would like the name on my tent.... oh... wait.... nevermind. 😉 Happy you like it and thanks for watching!

If you are going to film with at night often get a quality headlamp with better pwm that wont show up on video.
Thank you for the suggestion, I will check that out.

Have you used this in the rain yet?
I have not yet. We skipped fall this year and went straight to snow.
What about a cold fall rain?
That would worry me a little. Remember, this thing was originally designed to be used for ice fishing, not a hot tent. It is probably not meant to get rained on. I don't know how the material would do.

@@SKEvolved I live in Missouri we don’t always get just snow but it’s a interesting concept for deer camp

Where did you get the double wall stove pipe?

I also have the fatfish. Wondering what size cot works well in it?

Do you have a link to the parts you used in the mod?
