Marius punching thugs in the face and Javert looming out of the fog like some bloody great ghost. Damn, this is an awesome production.
The award for most epic entrance in musicals goes to....Javert!
I think that is the best Javert entrance I have ever seen.
It's really fantastic isn't it?
Yeah it looks like you could freeze frame that entrance and use the image as the cover of a Javert biography. But yeah, his appearance here with that top hat and coat alone emerging from a puff of smoke evokes all kinds of 19th century folklore from Sherlock Holmes to Jekyll and Hyde.
It’s everything, SO GOOD.

as someone with a little bit of background in stage crew...jesus. the set design and rotation...incredible.
Two things with this video...
1. I disagree with how Thaxton handles the moment with the beggar woman after his first line...I feel that Enjolras would have given her something rather than just brush her off and walk away. (But he still is great)
2. Marius punching the gang member (Montparnesse I think) in the face made me crack up. Can't believe I didn't see that before haha.

David thaxton....one of the best actors I've heard play Enjolras! Amazing! Really captures the personality of the character that Hugo invented before the musical. Utterly awesome!

When Marius punching Montparnasse in the face I laughed so hard I almost dropped my laptop. And then 'Parnasse pulled a knife (Stabby, his legendary knife) on Marius... and I died of glee... this is the best video on youtube.
I love where Marius punches Montparnasse, and 'Parnasse pulls out ole stabby. Also, I would pay great money for a Javert overcoat. >.>

Jon Robyns has had three roles in this musical, Marius, Enjolras and Valjean.
this is the cast i saw, but Earl was on that night - it was faaaaantastic. i like Woodford too, but he was a great Grantaire. and no one can do Javert like Carpenter can. the whole production was stunning, though.
I have a spiritual relationship with the trumpets at 6:40. They are fucking fantastic.

Montparnasse is so hot! For all he acts all sleazy towards Eponine I sort of get the feeling that he really does have feelings for her i.e. when Thenardier pushes her towards him, he holds his arms out to catch her then after she struggles and pushes him away, he sort of gazes after her then turns to follow her when she runs past him again. I love how elegently the actor portrays him!

The set design is amazing. The singing is quite good at times. The acting has a little to be desired, the kids voice is pretty good. (I know this is the london production)

Im playing Enjolras and just cannot hit the high notes! what do i do?!?! :(
Speak those notes. Put emotion I to it so it makes sense and seems like a choice you made merely for the character. For example, when he says "the night that ends at last," you can shout "at last!" and present you voice to like, "OH MY GOSH ITS ITS FINALLY GOING TO END!!!" I did the same when I sang the low note "apart" in I Dreamed a Dream."

@LegsandJump Or perhaps it's merely a combination of A) microphone distortion and B) once you get used to Anthony Warlow, he makes everybody else look bad.

it would have been great if it had been in the 10th anniversary. Its in the 25th, but everyone knows that in the 25th, the cast sucks, especially marius. I miss Micheal Bell
