That Penalty on Skaife was complete Horse Droppings. At worst they should have made him drop to Second. Not that it matters in terms of Championships 20 Years Later. The Stewards whacked people back them for the Most Minor Incidents.

There were a lot of confusing penalties back then and the only method of penalizing people back then was the stop and go, no time penalties and point drops and fines were usually for either serious near intentional incidents or post race penalites

This round, the one round in his supercar career paul morris remembered he could actually. Drive. Put him in a 2 litre or a supertruck and hes great. Put him in a supercar and he will crash it.. and win bathurst. Genuinely baffling career.

I thought the same at first, but if you watch it carefully Johnson locks the rears and the back steps out, and only after that did Skaife hit him.

Skaife shakes his head saying "I cannot believe it" while serving a penalty for his antics on Lap 1
