- New Breed of Dairy Cattle in Jamaica: GIROLANDO
I visited the Denbigh Agricultural, Industrial and Food Show recently. I saw some popular breeds of dairy and beef cattle.
I was also introduced to the GIROLANDO . This is a new breeds of dairy cattle in Jamaica. Based on information garnered from a livestock breeder, this dairy cattle came from Brazil.
From my interpretation of information received, the Girolando is here to replace the Holstein. They were developed from crosses between the Holstein and the Brahman. This means that this breed should be hardy more adaptable to tropical Caribbean conditions than the temperate Holstein.
The future looks bright for the dairy industry.

Afternoon sir may I ask where in jamaica these breeds r located I'm young I have cows but only red Pole I'm interested in getting a different breed if they r available for selling
