Dumb question but, isn't it like way way riskier to lift the person up all the way to the helicopter instead of just keep them as low as possible and just lowering them onto the grass nearby?
No, imagine the people as a pendulum. It's riskier for both people and chopper to be swinging a load around on a string while moving. The hovering is already super challenging...
@@joannah.185or maybe they’re in shock that a person could lose their life 🤷🏾♀️ I’d probably shake a bit too especially since you can’t help or do anything
@@EricUnderwood-v2x Yep. Just because it's lined with concrete, that doesn't mean it's not a river. Arroyo Seco feeds into it, right? That's a concrete lined river also.
@@jaytee2642 Yes...I grew up on the San Gabriel River in Downey from I -5 To the San Gabriel Mountains is natural for the most part sandy river bed ....from then on to Seal Beach it's all concrete....
She pooped her pants and was washing it off when the LAFD came along and put the ladder in place, so now she can hang on & rinse the nuggets out of her under drawers 😅
A pure hero that saved her, thank the heavens for him who saved her.
Glad she made it! Heroes still exist!!! ❤❤❤😊
Good Job Guys thank you
Amazing Hero, amazing footage.
Well Done , They Saved Her! ✅
The helicopter pilots that do this kind of stuff are insane, this isn't just regular helicoptering but hovering like that can be extremely dangerous
Bless her lil o heart
That was f**king badass, fantastic grab by that crew.
That is so unreal. Bless her heart.. I pray she overcomes this nightmare 🙏
Amazing job! 👏
Good job God bless them ❤love you
Whew! Thanks guys!!! ❤
Pretty exciting rescue. Oh the value of one soul!
my right ear enjoyed this
Oh wow it’s probably so ridiculously hard to grab a soaking wet person just full deadlift without anything to plant yourself on 😭 great rescue
Yikes! That was a little dicey. How did she fall in there in the first place? Great catch! Thanks guys 🙂
How scary this is. OMG oh my goodness. Does it tell how she got there? 😢😢😢😢 thank goodness she's safe.
Not even kidding, her friend’s phone fell in the water and she tried to go get it.
How is this keep happening? I've lived in LA for well over a decade and have never attempted to jump or fall into the LA river...
Homeless people are in there
It was a flash flood. Even my street looked like a River we even had hale.
It keeps happening because the people are Stupid.
Been happening since 1963 when I was born in Downey....every El Nino...
I believe you she must have been absolutely drunk

It’ll be faster to get to the closest hospital heliport, than an ambulance.😊
Well done boys
Good video 👍🏾
GOOD WORK LAFD and KTLA 5
50% of LAFD calls are bum related. I know where I'm placing my bet.
❤❤❤❤
Why won’t people stay out of the river, water or not? It can come with no warning.
SUPER
Nice to see a Motorola Razr from 2004 still taking video
😂😂😂😂
American is awesome! Lets keep it that way!!
Does anyone know what happened to the dog? He was trying stay afloat and passed her when she was holding on by the wall.
FFS, HOW do these people end up in the wash like this?
Rinsing poo poo out of the under drawers 😂
how did she get in the river?
How the hell she fell into the river? Was she planning to commit suicide or was high on drugs.
Apparently there's a bounty on who gets the tax dollars for bringing the person in.
All because of 1 phone. Ridiculous.
Waste of tax payer money and resources
She had a life jacket on? Not the ring they tossed her, she seemed to have a red life jacket on when she was hanging on the ladder.
Lifejacket, life ring, then a rescue buoy...she had to stand up in the thigh deep water just to adjust her haul of newly acquired goodies.
Wow
the design of that riverbed isn't that cleverly thought out.
A heros 😢😢😢😢😢
They should find a way to make her pay for all the resources used to rescue her.
And what was she doing in the flood control? Camping out?
people getting rescued from the concrete river.. its like the 90s all over again
Give the cameraman a break, obliviously shivering cold.
It’s not Alaska, not that cold

Homeless wasting tax dollars.

That's not a river.
It’s what they call it.
Yup, it is a city runoff that acts as a river. Don't swim in it. It is probably full of trash.
It is a natural river that has been concreted in .....it flows to the ocean...it's a river....

Why the hell was she in there in the first place. Ridiculous and a waste of tax payer money. Not that Cali isn’t wasting billions already on bs
You seem miserable, bro.
I'm glad she was saved
Of you were in her shoe and drowning. You keep your mouth quiet
Laundry day.

Very interesting. Wish the camera work was better though
I love ttese search and rescue guys. They are true Buddha's: risking their own lives to save another. I'm wondering how she hot in there...
Alot of resources used here.
Doesn't matter life is more important
I would have saved her too. Acknowledge me.
A man has in the river in Lego city!
