It indicates the suffering and hard work they went through to get success is extremely harder to get than gold. That you can be successful too but it takes a lot of blood, sweat and tears and that is worth more than gold. Hope you examine the english subtitles carefully. They hide a lot of the meanings in the words they say. The no eyebrows is a cultural reference to a popular saying that to get success you metaphorically burn your eyebrows off. Signifies extreme hard work.
