Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' Kyle Richards Explains How to Perform a Proper Breast Self-Exam

- Early detection saves lives! Kyle Richards has partnered with Bedford Breast Center of Beverly Hills to show exactly how to do a breast self-exam, and to answer the most common questions about advocating for your own breast health.
Kyle is the founder of the philanthropy event Kyle Richards Mammogram Day, which is hosted annually by Bedford Breast Center, in honor of her mother, Kathy Richards.
Kyle, along with Bedford’s own Dr. Heather Richardson, wanted to have a candid conversation to help demystify self-exams, and to encourage women everywhere to take one minute a month to prevent late stage cancer diagnosis.
Like many women, Kyle had fear and anxiety around mammograms and self-exams, and wasn’t really sure how to do a self-exam. After losing her mother, Kathy Richards, to cancer, Kyle has become a vocal advocate for early detection.
30-40% of diagnosed breast cancers are first detected by feeling a lump.
Breast self-exams help you to be familiar with how your breasts look and feel so you can be aware of any changes. Performing a breast self-exam every month is proven to catch some cancers early, especially for women under 40.
