HAPPY DAYS: Season 3 (1975-76) Clip: (Enter Laverne & Shirley)

This is a clip from "A Date With Fonzie", the tenth episode (49th overall) from the third season of ABC's 1974-84 monster hit sitcom "Happy Days", which in turn, was a spinoff of the popular 1970-74 ABC romantic anthology series "Love American Style". The episode aired on ABC on Tuesday, November 11, 1975.
This episode would introduce the characters of glib, brash Laverne DeFazio (Penny Marshall, sister of "Happy Days" creator Garry K. Marshall) and naive, trusting Shirley Feeney (Cindy Williams) to the American television audience. The characters would become such a hit off their-one shot appearance that ABC and Garry Marshall quickly went to work on creating a series centered around the girls. Two months after this episode aired, the girls graduated to their own monster hit spinoff "Laverne & Shirley", which ran from 1976 to 1983.
Richie Cunningham (Ron Howard) has been in a huge dating slump as of recent, so his best friend Arthur "Fonzie" Fonzarelli (Henry Winkler) comes up with the perfect solution: a double date with two easy girls. That night at Arnold's, Fonzie introduces Richie to the girls: brash, glib Laverne DeFazio (Penny Marshall), who is Fonzie's date and naive, trusting Shirley Feeney (Cindy Williams), who is Richie's date.
