After hours and hours of research and even Scotty claiming that Nissan transmissions are not reliable the best solution is to replace the original Nissan NS-2 or NS-3 CVT fluid with "Amsoil CVT" and apparently it makes the transmission as reliable as the top best CVT transmissions. The problem is that the OEM cvt fluid doesn't provide the best protection and if you planning on sticking with it you have to replace it very often to make the transmission last as long as possible, I believe every 30K miles the most. Amsoil apparently is the cure for this Jatco transmissions and people that have used it have been trouble free.
Thanks for the video! Seems like there are some opportunitis out there for fixer-upper projects on the Muranos and the Rogues. Too expensive to have a shop do the transmission swap. And maybe too time consuming for other folks.

That's quite a bit of work and a good video. Double and triple check all the bolts to tran/engine and torque converter. If everything is out the alignment pins may have rusted or corroded somewhat. Same can happen to the nub on the torque converter as it goes into the crank/flexplate. Should be able to carefully start separating it . I use putty knives , flat screw drivers , plastic wedge anything to carefully separate the two. Hope this helps and thanks for watching.
Thanks for the info, I ended up taking all of the bolts I removed from the old transmission and put them in place on the new one to see if I was missing any. Apparently on the AWD models, you have to remove the rear cat and then the transfer case to get to the last bolt hidden behind it. My MO is back on the road now thanks for your help!!

I usually get them from LKQ because they have a 6 month warranty and are pretty good about taking them back. I have got bad transmissions and engines but luckily it doesn't happen very often. It does happen and it is not pleasant. I really appreciate the feedback.

Is this transmission replacement compatible to a 2006 Nissan Murano transmission replacement?
It is probably pretty similar , even though the transmission itself is different . Thanks for watching.
Battery tray is a nightmare. Just replacing the starter was time consuming because of the battery tray.
Yes it is , thanks for watching.
Wow good job thanks
Thank you for the terrific feedback , it is much appreciated.
We've done a couple of these front wheel drive trans not the Nissan but few other models basically they all the same design we had a rack in a shop that we worked off, when looking for a trans junk yards first the make model your plugs your electrical wiring has to be the same, the model year computer has to match we had a rack a lift Hated everyone that we did, we know thats ruff working off the ground we would not care to do one on the ground, you know you looking for a replacement trans you look for vehicle wrecked you know the trans was working when it was junked thats a lots of work what hurts you do the trans then learn the trans is no good you have to get another trans and do it all over again, you know the junk yard will make it good give you another trans but you have all the time work into doing it over again, who eats that like you but trans online eBay who ever, is it a problem getting another trans do they allow for shipping any labor? who eats all that the mechanic yea most likely, if the customer provides the trans and it's bad its all on them even the labor, you know you get trans from junk yard we look for wreck maybe hit in the front not too hard look at the mileage on the car if possible pull dip stick check condition trans fluid the dip stick, our question if you buy trans from Internet and its bad what then? who eats all that hard labor.
I usually get them from LKQ because they have a 6 month warranty and are pretty good about taking them back. I have got bad transmissions and engines but luckily it doesn't happen very often. It does happen and it is not pleasant. I really appreciate the feedback.
Did you program it?
I did not have to program anything. Thanks for your question.
Is it just me or was this job easier than the Altima video? Or was it just the way you edited it?
I am glad you asked this question. Actually this job seemed very simple compared to others. I thought it was just me having good luck , but everything went flawless and the transmission worked perfectly. But yes I believe this is a very easy to work , well made car I would add. Thanks for watching.
Do you have to swap the tcm as well?
No need to swap the tcm. Thanks for the feedback.
Is that used tranny? Or remanufactured? If it's a reman did you do a programming of some sorts?
Hey does the transmission has to be programed or something like that to the vehicle
I did not have to program the transmission, it shifted perfectly. Thank you for watching.
was wondering the same thing. just did an 09 jeep patriot cvt. had to be relearned. doing 2012 murano now. thanks for video!!!

I have a jx35 that needs a new cvt. Can you help?
I know ebay is a good place to look for used cvt, they have several on there. Hope this helps.
@@s33therfan what's your location? Do you know what the part number is for the aluminum pan with fins cvt? Were there updated versions to mitigate premature failure?
What was the mileage on the old tranny.?
It had right at 190k on it. Thank you for watching.
Hello 👋 hard working people. Anybody ever changed tranny belt on two pulleys? I feel it could be done without removing transmission. Please share your thoughts. It’s my next project. Jx35 belt broke inside and my debate is to change pulleys or change transmission.
Beautiful vehicle
Thank you for watching , I really appreciate it.
@@s33therfan so it takes 3 to 4 hrs to change these? good deal on video, please give update on used trans.
Is this the awd model?
It is a 2wd . Thank you for the feedback.
Thank you. Did you have to have the dealer reprogram the TCM?
Need your help plz
❤
Thank you very much.
That toy mallet is not going to do it your just taping it you need something with a little more weight and force a sledge hammer!
Not a good idea to use more force than needed, a sledge can damage threads but yes sometimes Dr Sledge is required. :)
CVT: I am in the market for a used SUV. I like the Murano but I am not going to buy one. To many reports of CVT transmission problems.
I really like these murano , they are a great driving/riding car . That is the downside , the price of the cvt tran. Thanks for the feedback.
I got quoted 8 grand for this job 😢 i wish i knew how to work on cars. I think ima just buy another car.
Wow that ia expensive. I appreciate you taking the time to share this. If you wanted to fix the car , I would suggest purchasing a low miled used with a warranty or a reman and having a mobile mechanic quote the job. You might be surprised . Thank you for the feedback.
Ha, $1200, cost me 3800 with core
Look for a white one two that one is up to no good too. So if u see it say something in God I trust whoooo
He said "it tight" so many time I lost count. An I got to thinking. Ain't no man every said it's tight so many time any other place than the garage. Just saying
Best comment .
Any idea how much that transmission itself weights?
I believe its around 200 lbs give or take. Thanks for watching.
