My father used to bid on government surplus auctions in the 70/80's - had to bid on the whole lot - sealed bids - he won 400 empty 30 gallon metal shipping drums - - for - - $25. He was going to sand blast them, repaint them and resell them. As he was loading them up into his truck he noticed some were a lot heavier than the rest - When he finally opened one up - he had no clue what it was - he soon found out they were AAA-4's - infrared heat seekers that were attached to the F4-B Phantoms.. He has a Federal Appeals Court document stating he won the auction and therefore what was in them. They were obsolete and were supposed to be destroyed but ended up at the auction. A little more than half were broken or just parts but around 15 were only tested and put away (low flight miles on the back) - First generation heat seekers - I took one to Pawn Stars - sold it to Rick.
Where does all this auction stuff come from? Who does/did it belong to? Does it come from estates where people pass away? I guess I should wait until the end of the video because you explain where it comes from. 😊
