Just merely looking at the tiny size of Sevastopol in contrast to the gas giant it orbits will make you feel as if you are totally isolated in the vast and unexplored regions of a lifeless void...
This is exactly my vision of space and Alien is one of the few sci-fi masterpieces that does it right. It makes you feel very small and very much alone, surrounded by this huge void.
@@kostsheng2039 God of War’s menu was okay and matched with the rest of previous installments. But this one gives such horrific details about space and the unknown. You see three things in the menu, the gas giant, sevastopol, and space. You see that despite how far the camera angle is facing sevastopol, the vast gas giant comprises majority of one side of the screen, showing how dominant its size is in comparison to the space station. Its massive exterior that makes the station and the humans inside it seem like worthless microorganisms as the gigantic storms and massive tornados distinctly roam and rotate around the planet. As for sevastopol, you see a small space station. When up close, the station is massive and damaged. When entering inside, awaits horror and chaos between two extraterrestrials. But as you zoom out from all of that, the outside perimeters of the space station within the screen are completely silent, emphasizing how puny and insignificant sevastopol and its inhabitants are, in terms of size of course. But as sevastopol idly and silently floats next to the planet, there you also see the emptiness of space behind it. A dark empty void that shows only the giant and the space station itself, with thousands of stars lightyears behind the two. Emptiness, loneliness, and insignificance are three aspects you can distinctly see within the camera angle of this menu screen. And that is why the menu is so brilliant. It tells us that despite how we live in our everyday lives as regular people, there is much unknown to us far beyond the solar system’s regions. And who knows what dwells outside of it, who knows what you may encounter.
When I booted the game up and saw this screen, I knew it would be something different than Call of Duty... love it when game designers use emotional music for horror/action-games.
+Kriegy :3 Define "suspense": For me - feeling uneasy and queasy and wishing I had never loaded this game up is "suspense"! - but also knowing that I'm about to take on the fucking Alien - absolutely terrifying. Suspense is dependent on emotion. If a person has no emotion towards something, then there can be no suspense. Suspense = "feeling" on edge, jumpy, twitchy, uneasy, not wanting to do this (lol) ... This menu music - due to the content of the game as well - just makes me want to switch my computer off, because the game is terrifying, the alien IS terror ... and yet, I press "play game" nevertheless ...
+simonstrane why would you even bring up Call of Duty in the first place? You'd know it was something different from COD just by friggin reading about it!
Call of Duty my ass-crack! This game was worst in its difficulties than Metal Gear Solid even on easy. On SuperBowl night, after Seatle fucked-up, I got far in the first quarter of the game and...I don't understand why but I had three (YES! 3) full grown zenos on my ass it took forever to get out of that jam.
I was completely enthralled by this music the first time I started the game up. It fits the mood perfectly and gave me chills as I just sat there listening. I'm slowly making my way around Sevastopol station still but this game is so tense and the excellent sound design and music cranks it up to eleven!
DocHazard sorry i know this comment was a long time ago. but this title screen music is an alteration of the origonal Alien opening theme. its very similar in some ways
And in the silence, that tiny little speck of a space station holds so much death and terror. People are in the hive, their chests exploding. People are barricading doors, and praying with their loved ones. It is all futile.
Such an eerie, understated, score.. station floating seemingly benignly in space. In orbit around an indifferent gas giant.. ABSOLUTE CHAMBER OF HORRORS/NIGHTMARES WITHIN!!
Such an amazing game! Sometimes I would just sit at the main menu while I get ready to play the game, and this sweet tune will mentally prepare me and pump me up.
This menu perfectly matches the feel the original movie's title sequence gave. Feeling of being alone, scared and having no idea what lies ahead. Not to mention that this game is a goddamn masterpiece and is exactly what i would want an Alien game to be like.
Alien as a franchise does well in employing ambience and implications for maximum fright. Other horror stories leave us terrified of what we see and hear. This story leaves us afraid of what we don’t. In space, no one can hear you scream…
Thats odd. I have the soundtrack here. It´s the track "passage" (to the craft). But I get the impression that this "menu" track was played one octave higher. Was this recreated for the video game?
Marauder1981 Yes - they used a full orchestra with many of the musicians that played on the original Alien (1979) soundtrack. The soundtrack is a mix of old and new material all re-recorded and re-arranged.
If you're too young for and/or offended by harsh language, maybe you should stay away from M-rated horror games? Either way, no, there isn't away to turn "bad" language off.
Are you fucking kidding me? You want to buy this for your kid and you're concerned about the _language_? I hope you are a troll because god help your kid if you are really a parent.
The ONLY thing that could possibly make this game any SCARIER, other than the Alien, homicidal robots, homicidal humans, a berserk computer AI would be... ZOMBIES on that station thrown into th mix!!.. can I get an 'Amen'??
i love aliens (you know "alien 2") but this game is the perfect sequel....if i was rich i put a very fucking tons of money to somebody make a film adaptation
Oh, it's for your child? It's a pretty violent game and also quite scary to be honest (and I'm 26!). Even so, I don't think you can cut the language out.
Vinnie Tamburriello ah so I'm 14 and haven't had nightmares yet about this game? I've been a fan of the alien series for a while now,but this game is one of the best alien(s) games out there....
Gaming TiGer I was talking about like a 5-9 year old kid, and I'm 16 and I have not lost sleep nor had nightmares, but Five Nights at Freddy's, that's another story.
Just merely looking at the tiny size of Sevastopol in contrast to the gas giant it orbits will make you feel as if you are totally isolated in the vast and unexplored regions of a lifeless void...
The Ugly Barnacle 'lifeless' ;)
That’s the idea
Yeah in terms of what the game is about, this main menu is actually genius
The theme is the same with Pale Blue Dot photo by NASA.
"In space, no one can hear you scream."
This is exactly my vision of space and Alien is one of the few sci-fi masterpieces that does it right. It makes you feel very small and very much alone, surrounded by this huge void.
It's an awesome way of looking at space
One of the best menu screens I have ever seen!

+Kriegy :3 I'm sorry is putting people under suspense and anticipation not using emotions?

It really shows how miniscule we are, compared to the vast, empty void of space...
+KaijuKing238
... and the terrifying creatures we are bound to discover sooner or later!
+Mai Nem There are indeed so much of Things out there, somewhere, just waiting to be discovered. Universe is magnificent entity.
+KaijuKing238 No doubt
Always remember...
In space, no one can hear you scream.

One of the best game menus ive seen.
This is my favorite soundtrack ever, and Alien (1979) if my favorite movie.
I love this shit.
And in the silence, that tiny little speck of a space station holds so much death and terror. People are in the hive, their chests exploding. People are barricading doors, and praying with their loved ones. It is all futile.
Whenever I play this, I stop and stare at this screen for 15 minutes, it's just mesmerizing!
Still haven't beaten this game... I've had it for nearly a year now! It's just terrifying lol
Two possibilities exist: either we are alone in the Universe or we are not. Both are equally terrifying.
Arthur C. Clarke.

The thought that there’s a bunch of people trapped with a monster in that tiny thing…
This game could still be a great movie!
love how they redid the original music :D
Still get chills from this.
you know a game is scary as fuck when the MAIN MENU is terrifying... and it doesn't even have an incoming jumpscare. it's just... a main menu...
I love that retro vibe
Dad! I'm in space!
*I'm proud of you, son.*
Dad, are you space?
*Yes. Now we are a family again*
you can tell its a fucking masterpiece just by listening to the main menu music
well ... no ... but it is :)
This menu perfectly matches the feel the original movie's title sequence gave. Feeling of being alone, scared and having no idea what lies ahead. Not to mention that this game is a goddamn masterpiece and is exactly what i would want an Alien game to be like.
This has to be the most beautiful game menus I've ever seen.

In space, no one can hear you scream…
And then we're terrified of the things we couldn't see, but then can see right as we're about to be brutally slaughtered.
_Absolutely terrifying._
I love the eerieness of it.
Alien isolation is a very good videogame about a movie
Reminds me of AvP 2's game menu :D
Looks similiar like Tetris Effects menu, The font, The background in space, Just the music is absolutely very different.
Finally built up enough courage to play this game again. Then I hear this music and think "Maybe not".
Is it Gustav Holst's Saturn?
Fantastic
Should those gas clouds be moving that fast?
Hardest game ive ever played in my life.
This game is absolutely awesome ! Music and sounds fit perfectly. My favourite game for a long time probably, it also supports oculus right?
Not CV1 :( at this stage
does anyone know what the song is called/where I can get it?
check out the alien movie soundtrack
jj pound passage. Look my post above
hola ayuda ,help como volver la configuración de vídeo al estado original?

Can someone please tell me if you can turn off the bad language in the game or is it under the options pleAse help!!!
Settings>Butthurt Options

Are you fucking kidding me? You want to buy this for your kid and you're concerned about the _language_? I hope you are a troll because god help your kid if you are really a parent.
dude, this is a game about an alien that like to murder people in horrible ways, why you worried about the language?
I don't think so. Even so, I hope it doesn't discourage you to play this game. I consider it one of the greatest gaming experiences in recent memory.
DRAYSONVIDEO PLEASE HELP! MY GAME IS IN RUSSIAN PLEASE SHOW HOW TO CHANGE TO ENGLISH???
Get a steam copy.
Andruha Ivashin Filthy pirate.
The ONLY thing that could possibly make this game any SCARIER, other than the Alien, homicidal robots, homicidal humans, a berserk computer AI would be... ZOMBIES on that station thrown into th mix!!.. can I get an 'Amen'??
Uh... no...
Keep zombies far far away from Alien. Please!
Oh god.......you have destroyed the franchise by just saying that.
Alien game with zombies= The hell to the no
Although, a new IP that takes place in space with zombies could be good.
***** Uh...yeah I guess that is what Dead Space. But I was thinking like more of a survival game like Alien Isolation, low ammo/supplies.
i love aliens (you know "alien 2") but this game is the perfect sequel....if i was rich i put a very fucking tons of money to somebody make a film adaptation
Are you serious I really need to know
It is impossible to turn off the Bad Language. It's about what you would expect from an incredibaly gory horror game.
The original song is shit, I have a copy of this song (recorded it myself because it sounds so good) and the game is great.
It is for my kid and I don't want him listening to harsh language
Oh, it's for your child? It's a pretty violent game and also quite scary to be honest (and I'm 26!). Even so, I don't think you can cut the language out.
If you love giving your kids nightmares, this is the game for you!
Worst parent ever... Why not give them a safety blanket as well for their scarring for life? Leave the ADULT games for the adults bruh
Vinnie Tamburriello ah so I'm 14 and haven't had nightmares yet about this game? I've been a fan of the alien series for a while now,but this game is one of the best alien(s) games out there....
