Thanks again for your videos, my son's B5S4 stage 3 is going back together! Rebuilt K04's from Tim's Turbos and all new parts! Your videos are awesome.
Great vid, nice, calm presentation. Was glad you installed the crank pin, wasn't sure that was going to happen. Hope you turned the engine over by hand a few times and rechecked your marks.
Thanks!! Sorry for the late reply. TH-cam had flagged your comment for some reason. Always gotta install the crank pin lol. No timing job is done without one. And yeah I cranked her over a few times and checked all the marks on the cams and the crank as well as with the pin and the lock bar. I should have mentioned that in the video.
Great video. I just blew my timing belt. I usually take it to a shop to do the timing but id rather save the money and do it myself and this video will definitely help! Thank you!
Cant wait to be at this point.. I watched the previous video, I'm assuming the cams are set with the valves up when installing heads? Or maybe start with the crank offset from tdc during head install, then reset it when timing.. move it one less time lol.. not trying to criticize, but these will help me as I'm about to be at this point.. great work! 🤘
Thanks man! So the cams will actually naturally settle to a point where none of the valves will be extended past 1 mm when you you install them on the head. It’s called the resting spot. At this point there is no danger of valves touching the the pistons. Once the heads are on in this video I bring the crank over at least 45 degrees counter clockwise which will bring it back from TDC and none of the cylinders would be able to touch the valves. Then from there you move the cams to TDC with the lock bar and then turn the crank back to TDC. And finally lock it all in with the timing belt.
What timing belt kit do you recommend? Just got an Audi allroad and the last owner didn't even know what a car was, so I need to get the maintenance squared away and I was just curious if you recommend like ECS or some other kit?
I have installed the kit I copied below from FCP Euro 3 times with no issues at all and all quality parts. Plus you get the FCP Euro Warranty on all the items. www.fcpeuro.com/products/audi-timing-belt-kit-s4-a6-quattro-allroad-quattro-audi27tbk
Hey... Thanks a lot for the video. I ve got two questions, 45° counter clockwise the crankshaft? At 6:10 you say 75°. Do you have a partnumber of that bolt/ plug wich closes the lockpinentry? Here in Germany you only got a plastic-part with an o-ring. Thank you Bro
Sorry messed up the degrees there. It was just the 45 counter clockwise to give clearance for the valves to compress into the cylinder. 75 degrees over would work just fine as well since all the pistons would still be below the top off their stroke.
great video!! do you have a video for taking everything off in order to replace these things?? im planning on doing this myself on my santorin s4 but i refuse to watch anyone else 😂
Might sound like a dumb question here, but I have a stuck open thermostat. There is no way that I can replace the thermo without taking my timing belt off correct. I only ask this cause my timing belt was just replaced 20k miles ago grrrr.
Hey man! No such thing as a dumb question, but sadly there’s to way to pull it out without removing the belt. The belt sits almost flush against the thermostat housing.

The transmission will hood whatever you can throw at it with the K03’s. But K03’s aren’t known for their reliability, so if it’s the original turbos just a stage 1 tune with about 16 to 18 psi. Anything more than that and you’re asking to blow them. The transmission will hold that but if you want to keep adding power after than you will have to work to beef it up or switch to a manual.
That's the way a video is done!!!! No extra BS just to the point, very easy to follow!!! Couldn't of been any better. Thanks bro
Glad you liked it!
Thanks for the video. My allroad has 240k on it. This will be my first attempt at completing this job.
Best of luck with it!

Another great video. You make it look so easy!!!
Great explanation.
You earned a Passat fan in your channel.
Thanks lol Welcome aboard!
Good stuff! I just bought a B5 and plan to do this exact job-this helps a lot!
Best of luck
Good video!
Thanks!
Please dont stop making videos just got my b5s4 and wanna know how its works came from Honda so i know my wrenching just not how to do audi stuff lol
I'll make sure to keep em coming! Thanks for watching and I'm sure your wrenching will translate over well. Welcome to the Audi/VW family!

Sadly I don’t but I’m hoping to have a car in for a timing belt service so I can get footage on it.
wow dude very good
Thanks!
Still have the car?
Yeah this one isn't going anywhere.
Great video. Same procedure for a 05 A8 4.2?
Very similar but you’ll need a different lock bar.
@@CIPGAS are the torque specs the same from the V6 to the 4.2l V8? Seems like they should be right?
Can I do this with motor in situ?
Yes you can.
Did the audio cut out for anyone else from 4:15 to 6:38? Not sure why, I thought it was my headphones.
It did cut out trying to fix the issue now

my car the timing belt is off the two large holes are not lined up how do I line everything up ;;all the videos show with the timing belt on
if you mean the two holes on the cam shaft sprocket then you can move them into position by using the cam lock bar.
Also how would i know if my valves are bent....my engine threw timing
do a compression test on each cylinder
reliably how much boost can you run on an auto w/ stock turbos

Can I do this with out removing the motor ?
Yes you can. All you have to remove is your bumper, radiator support along with the radiator and your viscous fan.
Sound cuts out at 4:04. Don't think it's my computer.
I’ll check it out.
so if I pull good cams out of a Junker and put it on my car and time it....it should be all good right??

Yeah as long as the cams are good and you time them correctly
Wish i could find a used engine for mine lol
