Interesting interview. No doubt the success of the company is due to the EXPERTISE of its professionals. Too bad the way that Exxon treats their experienced employees by giving them an unfair treatment in comparison with young professionals who are placed in management positions without the knowledge nor the experience to run important projects. The company policy promotes a system where experienced professionals are used to nurture the young professionals who are placed in management positions and need to be mentored constantly but the “unfair” part is that when these experienced professionals are evaluated, they are usually given “low review” that doesn’t reflect their work product. This unfair treatment toward the experienced professionals is abusive and discriminatory. I hope the CEO of this company take a close look into this perverse practice that will hurt the company in the long run not to mention the anguish and suffering that is causing to their experienced professionals who deserve to be treated with the same respect and consideration that “ young” professionals are. :(
Sounds like this is personal with you. Most of my working career has been with working for companies focused mostly on profit and not so much on employees outside of corporate. That’s America today. It’s not an Exxon thing exclusively.
