After watching Karl as a Senior at Stanford play this tournament, I predict with his maturity, experience and his great game, he will be in the top 10 collegiate ranking when he graduates this May. I’ll never forget the 4 part series you did with Min Woo many years ago. It’s amazing to me that Karl and Min Woo were competitive in that 1v1 match but today, Min Woo has reached near stardom on the PGA Tour. Just goes to show how thin the margins are in professional golf. Karl is an amazing player but Min Woo just had a few parts of the game that were +/-5% better.
Like most fans, we are also ecstatic for Minwoo's success. I mean, the guy's a total legend. However, It's impossibe to make any comparison at the moment between Karl and Min because Karl chose to get a degree from Stanford before he tourns professional. Guys like Karl, Mike Thorbjornsen, Gordon Sargeant, Nick Dunlap and company are all very good players who chose the college route rather than turning pro at age 18 or 19. Ask any tour player such as most of the PGA Tour players who did the college route and I doubt that you'd find a single one of them (aside from perhaps Patrick Reed) who would have traded their college experience for a few million more dollars in their bank accounts. A (more accurate) recent comparison of where Karl's game is at would be of Karl and Nick Dunlap, when Karl (eventually) went down to Dunlap on the 18th hole in the final match of the star-studded North & South Amateur at Pinehurst #2 last June. 6-month's later, Dunlap won on the PGA Tour.
