The reason why the Swedish justice system is so relaxed:
In Sweden prison is a last resort. Mostly for people who constantly keep committing crimes that endanger civilians and property. The reason behind this criminal not being sentenced for very long is due to the reason that here, and in most other Nordic countries the prison system is very focused on rehabilitation. Basically the goal is for the prisoners to in a few months (in this case) be released as a better functioning member of society than they were when going in. It is not locking people up to keep them from doing more harm, it’s to make sure they do better later in life. Therefore it’s is often not necessary to keep them in for 5-25 years and completely disconnecting them from society.
It is basically the opposite to the USAs system in my mind.

@@gtboard That is very true, very very true. It is not common with armed, disguised drug dealer gang members putting up checkpoints into "their part" of a city like Gothenburg, not at all. Due to rivalry between a (big!) clan family from Afghanistan ruling a paralell society in a big part of the city with their own courts, punishments etc, and another equally criminal gang/clan. When was this revealed? This very week.

@@gtboard Yeah but chasing a weak 2.0 TDI with an even weaker police car. In the UK we have the tools for the job, we haven't had Volvos for 10 years or more, they can't cut it anymore. We have performance spec cars, Audi, BMW, Ford ST, VW R etc etc.

Gissade i itialt på en Passat .en kanske Volvo V70 civil? Den blir ju frånåkt men dessa poliser kan verkligen köra. Missbrukaren som kör har ju noll spärrar.
@@gtboard Exakt! Imponerade körning från poliserna är det första jag kom och tänka på som du skrev. Dessa poliser måste vara lite äldre, och säker haft körkort i över 10 år. Såhär bra kör man inte om man inte har haft körkort i många år, kolla hur mycket trafik det är också.
@@gtboard Vilka hastigheter civilaren måste ha varit uppe i på dessa vägar, ser ut vara en bra bit över 180 på sina ställen. Viken samkordinering med andra polisbilar också! Ser ut som att civilaren inte kör med blåljus på, jag ser inga reflexer utan blåljus på vägskyltarna, men jag ser nog förmodligen fel.

Otherwise it would sound like a dumb idea that you would have to be completely brain 🧠 dead to even think of being in a high speed chase in a stolen car and one of the most dangerous individuals to the public they have ever convicted in a court of law.

A perfect way for The Police to operate in this kind of situation is for example to call in a helicopter that can follow The car while The Police cars back off a bit so The situation dont get out of hand. I dont think anyone want this guy to be drivning around like that but The cops dont make it better just saying..
