Got to play the toms part on this, ended up snapping a cheap snare stick because my director wanted me to bring out the FFF at the end 😂 By far one of my fav concert band pieces
This song will always hold a special place in my heart, it was our last song in my middle school band. Best friends, best teacher, and best way to end it off with this song
6 years for me I think it is, definitely my second favorite piece from middle school, right behind waltz no 2 by Shostakovich. Doesn’t beat Armenian Dances, Profanation, or Give Us This Day tho
@@user-s8gma48zzl34 Oh yeah low brass almost never has the melody, it’s usually the bass line though. The harmony is usually what’s given to saxes, but sometimes the melody is given at specific parts. But yeah, trumpets and most woodwinds do often get the melody
We played this in a little competition in Oklahoma, we forgot our toms at our school, so we used a cardboard box, and a plastic trash can. We got a 1 and it was absolutely amazing 😂😂😂
I played tenor sax on this in my freshman year symphonic band! I can remember rehearsing this 6 years ago like it was yesterday. Probably my favorite I played in high school. The really scary part about this piece is that I remember being really challenged by it way back then, but revisiting my sheet music now I didn't find it difficult at all. One of those things that jumps out and reminds me that I've grown a lot since then. Gosh, I miss band.
super fun to play. lol my school played this for CMEA. the first two songs we played were slow and lengthy so the middle school kids in the audience were falling asleep but when we started to play Ruckus the woke right up haha
I was going to play this I. My concert as one of two first clarinets this year but the Coronavirus said not happening but this song has to be my favorite song I’d ever played!
Same. I'm a percussionist though, so I have to learn how to play drum set and then learn how to play the piece. I can barely play the simplest rhythms on drum set, not this complicated mess of notes on my page. Imma just die.
As it turns out, it's not actually a drum set piece, the people in charge decided to tell me that I'm actually supposed to play the snare and hi-hat. I learned the basics of drum set for nothing.
i played this song for my high school band and I was the high hat/snare part and it was probably the most fun I had in the time I was in high school concert season
Wow does this guy never miss. We've played three of his pieces so far this year in my high school's Wind Ensemble: Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse in first term, Ruckus and Impact right now in third term. Every single song has been so much fun to play (especially as a Horn player, thank you for that) and composed very well 👏
I remember hearing this a while back, and I guess I totally forgot about it until just now. This is such an awesome and very groovy piece, and I love the addition of the 5/4 time signature! Great job as usual, Mr. Standridge! :)
It sounds so cool :D I just got this peice with my band and I'm really excited! I'm a flute/piccolo player and I've got to say this is one of my fav piccolo pieces (that I've played) so far

Im a tuba player, and my highschool teachers had me play this... I think its like bar 109-117 that I had to hit the highest notes in my life. It sucked... really fun piece to play though.

We’re playing this and the incredibles right now. Lots of 5/4 time!
