Kolkata's very own flashmob erupted as part of the winter carnival on Park Street on 18th December 2011! 300 young at heart jived to the lilt of Senorita. Enjoy!
What was heartening to see was the enthusiasm among the dancers...they were enjoying entertaining the crowd & were simply having a blast...well done KOLKATA...u're not called the 'city of joy' for nothing...my admiration for the city increased manifolds...!!! =D
Love it !! Three cheers to spirit of Kolkata ! Thrilled... wish was a part of it. Yes they didn't have too much space, but what I love is the enthusiasm.... it is really a big gathering but because they are not spread out we cannot see it... an obviously KP had to barricade them like always!! :)
yeah, tremendous spirit!! :) :) this one dint luk like blokes of a dancing class dancing to much practiced moves.. the crowd energy, their enthusiasm rocked.. and all those idiots here who are saying not many bongs , only bongs make up calcutta?? only marathis make up mumbai??? lets stop being so clanish for a change dude!! N nobody really comments wid their actual name on utube also I guess.. Am a bong too n my name doesnt say that ;) anyways, as a bong wud say " gola bhideo" mon bhalo hoe gelo
Kudos to the spirit of the city... A lot of people have disadvantageously compared this to the CST flash mob video undermining that the logistics and dynamics here are different. Given that, the camera angles could have been diverse but in all fairness, they have been given a 10 degree radius to shoot…Jammed between the KP barricade and the trees you obviously can't span out your shots…All in all it does put a smile on my face and tickles the heart strings and there it triumphs.
I also see comments which say "well its not well co-ordinated,bad song..etc etc." I think they have three left feet.The third one is inside their head.Dont you see the energy.What if it doesnt seem like the dance troupe of Shamak Davar,they have done something different and that too in a busy area like Park Street and not in some mall! Accept something different dudes or be happy with that left feet inside your head.
flash mob? in the middle of the road? who would recognize them? taxi drivers are thinking what a nuisance they are for creating traffic rather than being entertained. and there was no surprise to this. even the pedestrians knew what the mob was going to do. flash mob starts from a single person and then eventually grows in number. Horrible location, bad camera work, a so so song and mediocre choreography. Kolkata kids are embarrassing themselves. Mumbai kids did much better. and im bengali....
Its of average quality. Would have been far better had the camera tried to focus more on the people other than the first row . The camera seems stuck on these three/four people making it less a flash 'MOB' and more an exercise in personal vanity by a few conceited individuals (like that lady with bob cut ).
someone(must be a Shiv Sena fan) commented here that " I CANT SEE ANY BONG NAME.HERE" I am a bong myself and I can see a sadhukhan,which is a very bong surname.Bong or no bong,just dont care man this is great.After Mumbai Airport I think this is the best flash mob.I loved it more because it didnt seem artificially choreographed.

Kolkata definitely has high marks on this one ! but who in the world was in charge of shooting this ! what lousy camera angles ! amateurishness ! watch the bombay footage the video was half the charm for the flash mob - here the camera work almost turns this brilliant effort to be portrayed as amateurish if not for the lovely people involved in the
@Radhikaranjan More than cosmopolitan, which is a tag many cities claim, it has a big, genuine, warm heart. Lovely to see these guys get together on a Park Street lit up for Christmas. Merry Christmas Calcuttans, I know the spirit of Borodin prevails. Best flash mob so far in spirit.

@ananbanerjee1 , i just meant that so little bengali names, organized by non-bengalis..and you know we bengali are losing kolkata to biharis,marwaris,up wallahs,a credit of flash mob need not be aa proof for it..
and it seems like 98 percent of the kids were non bengalis according to the names listed at the end of the video. non bengalis, please go dance in your own states or cities, but please do not embarrass our state.

We actually retrain our culture. We're amongst the very few who actually have the guts to speak in our mother tongue every hour of everyday without feeling embarrassed and embracing "hindi". :)
