Eric Wilson, I am now a practitioner and have started using Chi. My Master is a kind person and "it" always feels like its my determination and power flowing through me, not Possession. After watching this video I can't help but wonder If maybe it was a dark entity that merely wanted to feed on your chi. However I respect you and your intelligence; do you think I should quit? It's too bad you even have to mention that about people mocking each other and cursing each other out in the comment section, it would probably take an extemely long time to find a TH-cam video with over 20 comments that doesn't have some immature insults and curse words, every generation is just going to continue getting worse and worse and more desensitized to profanity sexual content and every bit of evil in the world. I have to even question if you did study real Authentic chinese Gung Fu after listening to your talk.Seems to me you fell victim to ego based power hungry Cultist & never once learned from a real Gung fu Sifu.Now besides all of that can you tell me where in the Good book does it say that the study of Personal protection/self defenes is not allowed? is it wrong for a man to be able to protect his loved ones? if so where does it say so? Hello, I am 14 years of age and I christian. I am going through torment in school and I feel as if I am consumed in sin. Not a soul knows my religious beliefs due to the fear of more torment. I pray but I am left in silence, I beg for forgiveness but I get consumed by sin, I believe in the bible however haven't read it, I sit in a pool of fear to the demons which torment me.

How are you doing now friend, 9 years later
This is a great video Eric. I have trained in mixed martial arts since graduating high school several years ago. I was a wrestler in high school and liked the the discipline martial arts offered. Shortly after I started training,I started seeking ways in which I could become better. This "coincidentally" led me to becoming infatuated with the occult. I read various books on the philosophies of Buddhism and Taoism, started meditating everyday, and practiced things like astral projection (not really related to martial arts but I came across it in my research and started obsessing over it). I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I started experiencing strange side effects shortly afterwards, like feelings of being disassociated from my body or feeling energy flow up to my head and feelings of floating. I also started having bizarre dreams; some of which scared the you know what out of me. I continued these practices until one day when I felt inclined to research the dangers of yoga, kundalini, astral projection, qigong.etc. I found out some interesting things but your video presented some interesting points as well.
I still train in mixed martial arts, specifically muay thai, brazilian jiu jitsu and american wrestling. I discontinued researching eastern philosophy and practices. The gym I train at is for mixed martial arts fighters and only focuses on techniques and training to get the fighters prepared for their fights. None of the philosophies behind martial arts are taught. There is no belt system or "masters" or anything like that. We basically just go through some techniques and then do full contact sparring at the end. Many of the fighters I train with are top ranked amateurs in the state or professional fighters. I have been training with many of these guys for years, and consider them to be my friends. I occasionally fight but I am in nursing school right now so I mostly like to train and get the others fighters prepared. What I am trying to get at is, even though I am not practicing the traditional martial arts, is what I am still doing still wrong? I understand what you are saying about the ego getting fed and feeling powerful from training. I am fully aware of these things and try to keep them in check. I just think it would be very tough for me to throw in the towel and leave the sport altogether.

If you still train, you are still opening doors to the enemy. You need to repent and return to God and His ways. These things are detestable to Him.
You can still find self-defense schools that are not based in Yin/Yang or any Religious affiliation if you attend a boxing/MMA like I do. I do not see it affecting my devotion to my Catholic faith. As far as ego - it is not bad if you feel good about yourself as long as you do not use it to belittle or bully others. I would not steer people away from self-defense because I think everyone needs to learn to defend themselves.What you said could be said about some people who get their Carry firearm permit.

What about Christians in the military? They have to learn martial arts? What about medieval European warriors? They didn't swing swords around randomly, the best ones developed their own techniques; and yes although they were not as advanced as the Eastern fighting styles they were pretty much martial arts seeing as martial arts means the art of war. So even Christian *monks* such as Templars and Teutonic knights practiced martial arts.

Not all schools include religion or religious practices in their training. They don't all do meditation but rather the usual sprints, splits, sit ups, push ups, etc. Many schools focus on perfecting technique and many schools are NOT full contact at all. ALL sports are competitive. Sorry but not only martial arts are about being number 1 no matter what. What about the Olympics....various World Cups (FIFA, Rugby, etc). Even on a school level, we see kids playing basketball, hockey (field and ice), cricket, baseball, tennis - all the be NUMBER 1. At school - academics, games like chess, activities like choir.....all with the goal of being at the top of that podium. If you aren't striving to be the best, then what are you working for? You are training to develop physical skills. Sorry but I'm not buying this. There might be some schools out there that have ill wishes or misguided goals but the majority of martial arts schools don't push any other agenda apart from teaching technique and precision. I know several people who do different types of martial arts and all it did was help them learn to defend themselves, stay fit, and maintain a calmer approach to life. I never heard of any religious influences at their training sessions - not at any level.
The world: "If you aren't striving to be the best, then what are you working for?"
Jesus: "I tell you those who seek to be first will be last, and the last will be first."
What does Jesus mean by that? If we're out to just be like the world, (James 4:4) then we will be thrown into the fire of hell with the world. We will be put last, with the rest of the world that loves itself.
When you go into _any_ martial arts what do they have you do? bow to your "sensei" - this means master. Again, what does Christ tell you?
"Call no man 'father' (or master) as you have _one_ father"

I have trained in the martial arts most my life, taught for the last 18. I don't teach my students any mysticism or internal power, all that stuff is garbage and every trick those so called masters can perform I too can perform and explain it by physics and anatomy. I don't teach my students to win or be the best- simply they learn the best techniques I can offer to defend their life and the life of those around them. John 15:13 "Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.
I have been in the church since I was 3 and have been preaching the Gospel of Christ for close to 30 years now. I agree with some of your statements on certain martial art instructors and how they teach their students "mystical powers", it's a joke and some can be dangerous but lumping all systems and instructors into "the devils army" is wrong. Christians have a right to learn to defend themselves and most of my students are members of local churches, parents that home school their kids and are very protective of what these kids watch, read, the movies they see and the music they listen to but they are more than comfortable having me teach their child self defense because they know my faith in Christ and that I don't teach the mystical mumbo jumbo.

Or is it because there is a seductive influence which works to draw every man, woman and child, into the snare of "self-sufficiency, "self-dependence" and "pride" rather than a humble yet confident walk in the power of the Living God ?
And how does one read our Lord and Sovereign King's commands to His disciples, and when He said . . . "Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth . . . . But I say unto you, That ye resist not (push not back in retaliation against) evil ! . . . but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if any man will sue thee at the law (court), and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also !
And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain (2). Give unto him that asketh of thee, and from him that would borrow of thee, turn not away . . . . For I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you . . . Can the man of God trust the Word of the LORD, or is he left to doubt that the LORD literally means what He has said ? Can we trust Him ?
Or as Jesus said, "When the Son of man returns, shall He find faith on the earth ?" Luke 18:7-8 & Romans 12:19

EricWilson7 king David was a man after God's own heart and also a warrior. He had to have trained to be able to fight philistines. What's more Jesus himself instructed his disciples to buy swords of they didn't have any.
What's more, training put of love for your wife and children and to be able to protect them is not arrogant. It's good stewardship and necessary. If I am to love my wofe like Christ loved the church, then I need to provide for her, even after I'm attacked. I have to be able to survive an attack to continue to fulfil my duty to her.
There is more than one way to logic and reason. I think of what Bruce Lee says about learning certain styles or methods of fighting. His philosophy is to incorporate and learn all. To be a student of anything worth learning. That there is always a time and a place for each. Indeed Master Lee was spot on. It's not only a good philosophy in any form of sports or competition. But also a good way to approach Life itself.

@@EricWilson7 I saw those already. Seems to be quite a disdain for Eastern Philosophies. Just because it's not Biblical scripture, does not mean it should be so demonized. Much of the Taoist teachings are about the realities of life. That all have darkness and lightness nature. Within each of us is the realization that Life is and has always been a struggle to survive. That those that have the necessary means to balance light and dark. Are those that survive. That these understand there is a time and a place for everything under the Heavens. A time for peace and a time to fight.

@@EricWilson7 No darkness at all you say. In Isaiah God himself is quoted ," I bring peace and calamities". Answering a popular question regarding the Deity. "Why does he allow so much suffering?" Answer: He either can't, refuses to do so, or causes it. And this is the same "Almighty God" that delights when a devoted follower is willing to murder his own child at the pleasure of his deity. I would say that sounds pretty dark.
@@jstube36 The Lord Jesus Christ's greatest desire is to protect and shield each and every one of us from danger and the power of the Devil. But to gain this protection, we must choose His protection rather than fall under the dominion of Satan and the evil angels.
Every person has been given the power and freedom to choose which side they desire to live under . . . darkness or Light and freedom and Peace ! When a man surrenders their life to the LORD God, there is no fear, no doubt, no guilt or shame. I have been on both sides of this war . . . and without any shadow of a doubt, the LORD God and Christ Jesus are faithful, they are True and they are full of unfailing power and Divine mercy !

At the end of the day we live in a secular post-modern society who have no value for God or the scripture. Occult signs and symbols are found everywhere, but most people don't even acknowledge it. As bible believing Christians can we stay true to our beliefs while following the secular moral guidance which contradicts the bibles teachings?
Paul said 'Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?' (2 Corinthians 6:14)
I personally started practising Karate as a child, then Fujian Kung Fu, then kick boxing, then Capoeira. To be honest, I always felt that God was calling me away from martial arts, but I kept making excuses, because I always stayed away from the spiritual aspect of martial arts and I thought the physical side would be compatible with Christianity as long as I don't accept their beliefs. However the feeling against martial arts was so strong that I felt compelled to stop any association with martial arts all together.
After a few years away from martial arts I sustained an injury in my leg, so I was encouraged by my physiotherapist to start doing yoga as part of my rehab and this led me to get back into martial arts through Tai chi chuan/Chi Kung. Everything was OK for a few weeks, then I experienced a strange waking dream while I was in the yoga class, which made the instructor very happy and she wanted to introduce me to breathing exercises. Soon after this there was a night when I was woken up and it felt like my injured leg was on fire, I prayed about it and the pain went away instantly. I told my doctor about the incident, but he had no clue what could have caused the burning pain. Despite this experience I kept practising Yoga and Tai chi, but my injury kept getting worst, so after a few more incidences I put two and two together and I decided to stop. That very same night I had a dream in which God revealed to me that the true energy behind Hinduism, Buddhism and all "works based" religions is Satan.
I needed to know more and I did hours of research and I came to the same conclusion as you about the occult nature behind the movements and symbols, that are found in martial arts and popular culture. The system of movements in yoga and martial arts were made with spiritual intent, so doing the movements (like the sun salutation) still holds the same meaning even if we do it just for exercise. After learning this I soon experienced sleep paralysis for the first time in my life and I felt the presence you spoke about in your video. At first I couldn't even speak, but eventually I called out to Jesus Christ to release me from what was trying to take control of my body and the Almighty Living God answered my prayers. I realised that God literally saved me and there really is power in the name of our Lord, so I started looking into spiritual warfare. I realised that through martial arts and yoga I had opened doors and allowed entities to attack me, but through the grace of God I was able to see the truth. I repented for my sins and I have thrown away anything that distracts me from God.
Please keep fighting the good fight Eric, even if the world doesn't want to hear it.

Thank you for your presentation. I had a similar experience: 40 years in several martial arts, then God told me: "Look up my son!" That's the only time God talked to me, and I still don't know what it means but it's all I needed to bring me back to God. God is the only "way". The martial arts are beneficial, but the Holy Spirit has to be in the driver seat.

Powerfult testimony, one thing though We can’t command angels to do things but we can ask the Lord to command his angels to protect us and etc.
I remember listening to your testimony in 2014 on the day just before my karate class. I've had so much concerns and questions concerning this issue on martial arts.
I wonder why Jesus would tell his disciples to carry swords and king David who was a warrior as well as guys like Joshua who was also a fighter yet it is considered that a Christian should not practice martial arts.
So how about the soldiers in the army who are taught martial arts amongst whom there are Christians, are they sinning against God by doing this service?
Secondly, it's a man's sacred duty to be a protector, sometimes not every time, force or rather self defense may be necessarily be applied, why would one not practice self defense in such a context? My genuine concerns.
One of the Q&A from John Macarthur said, sports are good but not to idolize so much. MMA? He said is destroying God creation of image of a man and woman. Harming people lives for pride and glory is not honor Him. Its anger, pride and harm. There's more he said but since that's what I remember. I left Taekwondo bc its bowing to the image of man and its expensive. Korean love respect, but not kind this way. I didn't know the martial arts are dangerous for Holy spirit and can lose faith in Him. When I listen to Mr Macarthur. Now, that explains why police shouldn't beat up suspect face, bc then the suspect wouldn't talk if severe. Damage jaw or brain. Now to be honest, I'm training BJJ that doesn't have bowing to image of a man or old man. But I'm careful not to be obsessed of bjj, but to be sure have for my nephew with severe Autism to be calm and protect children and teens. Pray for ya bro. God loves you

Dear Eric. Thank you for sharing. I am 47 years old and I have practiced martial arts since I was 15. I always felt very proud of that. I wanted to share with others how your mind suddenly "changes" once you are in a combat. Just as if it wasn`t really you the one who is fighting. Yes, Martial Arts are for the ones who want to dodge and counter-punch, not for the ones who want to turn the other cheek.
Jokes aside, a few of the students at my dojo are Christians. They seem to handle worship and exercise fine. And I'm sure they in a real-world situation dodge and counter-punch rather than turn the other cheek, and protect themselves and loved ones. I still don't see any problem with that.
before i was christian a man once tried to munch me at a bar i blocked with my left hand how i learned in tae kwon do/kick boxing.
he lost his balance and the stumbled, the cops arrested him and beat him up for fighting back and he ended up in the hospital....i followed the ambulance and made sure he was okay.
i didnt fight back but maybe the best thing to do is not even to block but to take the whole hit.
That is the problem. You don’t see what the problem is! Even watching this testemony.

What about, wrestling it's a martial art actually so are people who learn wrestling worshipping the devil.
I believe we are supposed to ask God - not the angels. God can send angels to help us. But we aren't to pray to angels. You are welcome to correct me with a scripture. I used to think I could talk to angels. But learned we aren't. (Can't remember the verse.) Besides, how do we know which angels are answering us.... the fallen ones? or the ones in heaven? The question you asks has got to be a joke though you say its serious. I grew up in Church, have been saved since I was very young, and also grew up in many different stlyes of martial arts (21 years not including U.S.M.C). None in these days have met Jesus. so why would you ask me that? I also know plenty of history and the beginnings of martial arts which pre-date india which you spoke of. Your books are cool but you never answered my question. An untruth in a nice way is an untruth which is practice by many 501c3 churches nowadays. You assumed I was unsaved but I am. Ive also met a few sifus that struggle with this battle of not knowing becaise of strategic conditioning. Do what helps you in your walk with christ, I just felt you were mis informed. Good day!

I have been doing martial arts and yoga for several years now. No bad effects on me :D Its all in the mind. You believe bad things can happen to you... they will. People (ESPECIALLY AMERICANS) join martial arts for the wrong reasons. They join because they want to beat up people and look cool. Martial arts goes a lot further than physical fitness. I had to stop at 11 minutes in. If you are going to practice martial arts and follow Christ it should be pretty simple, look for a "Karate is for defense only" school, not a "NO MERCY" one. I really wish people would stop grouping stuff together and talking about it like it all is of the same quality. Whether it is GMOs, vaccines, a color/race of people or martial arts, those labels may describe a few attributes, if we blanket others that don't always apply we appear as a fool.

Ok so I've been watching these videos and I'm like ok good points I've never thought about it like that but when you bring martial arts into it and say that is bad I have to bring my foot down I've done martial arts all my life and it has brought nothing but good to my life it have me seething to focus energy on and it has kept me healthy and in shape and I'm from a pretty bad place in Chicago and thanks to my martial arts I've been able to defend myself and everyone that I know that do martial arts are very humble and nice people know tell me how martial arts is the work of satan again please?
I didn't even suspect that Chi energy could be demonic, but now that you mention it, it kind of fits. I've practiced Tai Chi (Yang style) for a while and noticed an effect over time. The power (or whatever it is) is seductive and definitely makes me feel alive. It's going to be hard for me to stop practicing. I'm also a power lifter and my practice of Tai Chi has produced a noticeable effect in this area as well.
Hi, I left internal ving tsun (kung fu) because i felt huge amounts of power into my body (yoga like pathway energy.) I didn't see bad entities or anything like that but I don't wanna go against God/Jesus; that's why I stopped my practice.

Hi brother Eric, thank you for your testimony... I learnt taekwondo during my secondary school's days but stopped after I got my second lowest belt & karate in my early 20s but stopped after I got punched on the nose.
I went to a healing ministry here in my country & eventually became their volunteer at 1 time. During renunciation prayer I was asked whether I practised martial arts before & I told my pastor that I did. He asked me to pray for repentence & follwed by renunciation prayer too.
From your video here, I got to know precisely & specifically the danger of practising martial art! I am glad that I watched this video of yours. What is the next video I should watch to know more of what you have shared?

the other day i first stumbled on yoga kundalini then the word chi was mentioned then i saw your presentation. i have been blind to these forms with which you have trained. i have trained in the arts. most people ive met in these kung fu forms have used drugs. when ever i talk to these people they are very defensive to the point of rude. ju jit su people are much the same in my experience. a few years ago i went to a seminar that was invite only. about halfway through this japanese mind set was thrown in called mushin and i belive it to be relation to chi. thank you sir for helping to open my eyes to these devils

He is right,the only way you get to know is to humble yourselves before him and let him act in you.Don't go to him with a big "self defensive" ego.He wants you to look at him through the eyes of a small child,not as a biased adult with a bloated ego.
We have to beware of opening doors in anything we do and say. But learning martial arts without spiritual mumbo jumbo for exercise, discipline and self defense doesn't sound wrong.
I would first like to say, this is an amazing testimony and thank the Lord for saving you from Martial Arts. I would like to tell everyone in the comment section that are in denial about the Martial Arts of it's true nature, is that it comes from the Devil, it comes from Satan. This is not just some ordinary guy with no experience in Martial Arts. This guy pretty much dedicated his whole life into Martial Arts and it caused some important things in his life to fall apart. He has more experience and more knowledge in Martial Arts than any of you have ever had in your entire lives. If you actually finish the entire video and get to the ending, you'll see the conclusion he made into why Martial Arts is evil. I'll make it easy for you, go to 1:01.00 in the video listen from there. Do what he did and read that book he referenced. Recommend you watch the whole video though. Also, for those who claim to be Christians and say that Martial Arts isn't bad or evil, he is warming you about the dangers of Martial Arts. It's interesting, when I come across people on the internet that can't tolerate God, Jesus Christ, or the Bible, they themselves throw out any possible sense in a real in depth debate and ultimately fail to get the main point from the side they are opposed to. You simply don't want God in your life and you don't want to hear the truth. In Jeremiah 9:6 it says, "You live in the midst of deception; in their deceit they refuse to acknowledge me", declares the Lord." In the name of Jesus Christ, open their eyes Lord.

May i ask, have you ever studied any form of martial art?
Can i also ask, do you think that the sport of boxing is also from the Devil?
In case you don't reply, the reason i am asking is that unless you've actually tried out a martial art then you don't really truly understand anything about it. I also ask about boxing because boxing is a legitimate, popular sport throughout the world. Boxing, like martial arts, teaches fitness, discipline, co-ordination, self-defence, etc, yet there's none of this weird connection of so called religious meanings to it like there is with martial arts. The aim of a boxer is to score/hit the opponent, as is the ultimate aim of martial arts. That's it. There is no religious meanings to martial arts in general (i acknowledge that there will be the odd strange cult out there that does, but they're absolute minimal). The whole point of martial arts (martial = war. Art of war) is to protect yourself and destroy your enemy. Today, this has been mostly turned into a watered down sporting/fitness/hobby activity. Boxing is the same. The majority of boxing practitioners don't fight or compete.
Note: Boxing is not a martial art. It is a combat sport.

My 7 years old son started karate a year ago. I keep just the combat part and take away the spirit. I pay personal training for my son so I have the option to make suggestion to his sensei. Addionatly there are many Karate Christian movenment. So, the martial arts are amazing, and keeing.away the spiritual part is a great sport.

Eric, I watched your video, at the behest of a friend, who has not been raised in the South, or in even the US for the most part. He was very confused by the entire thing. Starting with the systems you trained in, their numbers, and questioned the authenticity of your instruction. Secondly, by the your inaccurate descriptions of many Eastern philosophies.
I will not go into the details of your misconceptions. I was raised Southern Baptist. You are secure in your faith, and certainly have no reason to pursue deeper (correct) knowledge of Eastern philosophies.
However, with regards to your martial arts career, there are some serious issues. There are thousands of charlatans, and fakes in the US. You seem to have found every one of them in the Tennessee area. Your statements regarding Aikido, Taiqi, and Chi Gung are simply ridiculous, and wildly inaccurate.
Your claims of personal ability are just out and out lies. Now, either you know that, or you don't. (I suspect you do, but maybe you have always been in the same trance as the students you taught. Group delusion as it were.) You have not been in a legitimate martial arts study. You have been in an occult group(s). I am sorry for this. It seems you have wasted much effort and time, for naught. The crap about "chi balls" that knock others down from across the room is pure fantasy. I have seen George Dillman "demonstrate" this garbage to fevered believers many times. It is the same trick at hypnotists and faith healers.
Please do not damage the reputation of real students of legitimate arts with this nonsense teaching. Surely there are better ways for you to get attention, than to "preach" on things that you know obviously nothing about.

Why do I feel like you are just trying to protect your craft!? Sorry, but I know a lot of people that practiced martial arts and all agree that at a certain point you have to either stop or get deep into the occult.
If you sincerely believe that he is lying, then it means that you haven't reached the higher degrees that he reached. Otherwise then you are the one fooling people around. Even Satanists know and teach martial arts as something coming from their masters and a path to spiritual illumination.
What about if you just attend a class that uses marshal arts moves for cardio exercise such as body combat classes? They usually consist of different marshal art moves but there is no spiritual teaching behind it. Im wondering because I've been invited to go by a friend and I'm not sure if it's okay for me to do that as a christian .

I'm a catholic, and I have been training in the martial arts for 12 years. I can safely say that the martial arts is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I have trained in TaeKwonDo, Kickboxing, san da and BJJ. All martial art systems I have studied have always taught me to show respect, and treat others well. To respect and treat others well is the fundamental Judaeo-Christian message. If anything martial arts has made me a better Christian.
The problems with martial arts is that some schools do teach religious type attitude towards certain masters and instructors. However this is becoming more and more rare, especially in the western world. In my old taekwondo organisation (TAGB) we had several masters, all of them were the most down to earth and the nicest men possible.
Martial arts can be practical, they can help someone protect themselves if they are unfortunate enough to be attacked on the streets. Or they can be fun, in the form of competition.
I understand that there are still schools that exist and are very dodgy. If anyone is concerned about starting the martial arts i recommend trying all schools in your local area, and train at the school you enjoy the most. With an open and objective mind you should be able to easily find a safe school for you/ your children.
The gentleman in this video appears to have been unfortunate enough to train in these shady forms of martial arts. "Chi energy" does not exist. Schools that claim to have magic type abilities should be avoided at all cost, they are environments of mass hysteria. You cannot use "chi energy" to push someone or to block attacks. It simply does not exist. Indoctrination and brainwashing students to believe they have magic powers are common in these kinds of martial arts. Sometimes seducing seemingly intelligent people. However, the modern martial art world has woken up to this, and this from of useless chi/magic trash martial arts is thankfully dying.
In closing, martial arts is not a "sin" or "unchristian" or whatever you may like to call it. It is simply a method in which a person can defend themselves. It is an art form that encourages respect, and that the user never abuses the skills they learn in the school.
Respect, courtesy, love and protecting yourself and others. There is nothing more christian then that.

Yeah, ancient masters and developers of Chinese Martial Arts actually never taught such mystical things about Qi (Chi) and in Japanese "Ki", in fact the more accurate translation of “Qi” is “energy in relationships”, so to “cultivate your Qi” is simply to understand the relationships in your body, changing how your body structure works over a long period of practice resulting in bodily changes, chemicals and blood flow. “Qigong” in a nutshell is the study of relationships in the body and mind on a “physiological and neurological” level. Though interestingly, historical studies shows that it does have links to shamanism.
It's a lot to do with intent too. If one starts treating these things as if they were magic, they then "become" magic, through misunderstanding and can lead to mental illnesses, in Chinese we call this "Qigong sickness", which as you can imagine, if you make something out to be magic, and start treating it like magic, you essentially become a magic practitioner through your "intent and attitude" to it, and through that, you then attract demonic and satanic spirits, as they will become attracted to you, because you have started to "willingly practice magic", as that's how "you" (the practitioner) is viewing it, and that's where the trouble starts.
Some schools do shady things as you say in these areas and do weird and un-natural practises, and this man in the video has unfortunately been victim to those types of people, starting with the misunderstanding of the mistranslation of qi as so many do, which then leads them to seeking out more as it becomes an addiction to "power", which leads to the "real" dark paths and shady martial arts schools that are actually based off of spiritism.
Now there certainly "are" magical traditions and forms of spiritism in traditional asian martial arts, stuff to do with the emptying of the mind, shamanism, possession, gods, symbolism and so on. It's knowing what to look out for.
I'm a Catholic, and I've never been in martial arts but I believe this man because of the consistency of his message.
There's nothing consistent about his message, he refuses to acknowledge any benefits of training in the martial arts. The entire video is him saying, "martial art symbolism is not Christian, therefore it is evil" or "martial art abilities give me magic powers (delusions), therefore it is evil." I hate this aspect of Christianity where some Christians are so closed minded to cultures and symbolism which is foreign to their beliefs. Instead, we should embrace these cultures/symbolism and incorporate them into our beliefs. You will find they are very compatible.

This video is very misleading. It portrays martial arts in general in a bad light. Current martial arts covers such a wide array styles & disciplines, and each martial arts school has different goals and aims. Today, the majority of western MA schools train either no contact, or minimal contact, but like all aspects of society you have good and bad people involved within the martial arts. If you want to train for fitness then there's a lot of schools that will concentrate on this. If you want a reality-based self-defence system then there are countless classes for these. And finally, the sporting aspect. Like sports in general, martial arts has a competitive side. A student will get out of their style what they put in.
I think all of this connecting all martial arts to religions is nonsense. The Yin-Yang symbol is used as an analogy; good/bad, strong/weak, hard/soft, fast/slow, big circle/small circle, etc. You can use opposites (yin-yang) for a lot of martial arts situations. For the length of time that the author has spent doing martial arts, i truly believe that he has totally misrepresented martial arts. Whether he has been attending 'bad' schools, or what, he has painted an incorrect picture of MA, in my eyes. 20+ years myself in martial arts and i have only had positive experiences, and i am also proud to be an instructor myself.

Sorry for being rude but this is what's called 'blind following. Do your own research. Kickboxing, for example, is a pure sport, yet it is deemed a martial art. Pankraition wrestling is the same, which is a Greek creation of self-defence/sport.
Please don't just blindly follow. Lots of martial arts have lengthy histories and traditions, and lots (freestyle) don't.

A true martial arts master would have refused to train someone who just wanted power over others. The true meaning of KUNG fu is to master yourself, not others. Master your own anger, fear, desires etc. it's not about fighting other than self defense.

Really good example of what a bad martial Arts school does can't see the relation between martial Arts and religion and to even imply that martial Arts is evil is just making up stuff for a good story. I'm a judo player of 46 years and I've never heard such silliness in my life.
There are Christian martial artist. I am one. I do not believe the arts are evil. I believe God created the first martial art. The star of David only has five sides. Some arts are steeped in Asian religion like Shinto, Buddhism, or Taoism. Most American schools are not. Kenpo is taught from a Christian platform, though is not required to be a Christian to practice. It is taught in English here, not Chinese or Japanese. It is taught in the language of where it is taught. In Guatemala it is taught in Spanish. I am not as advanced as you seem to be, but I have trained in kenpo for over 10 years, and I have taught in two countries. I agree some arts are deeply tied to Asian religions, but not all, and in the U.S.A. I would say not even most.

He is taught that the power and glory are Gods and his studio teaches nothing like this. no chi, tao or full contact. it is a self defence only. This man's testimony is powerful and I am glad he shared, but there is yoga and then Pilates, his martial arts and the Kenpo I know. two different things. I will still pray about it though.

Once i got intreduced to an internal style caled miqong with an ying and yang shape, and god said in a voice ,,now this is satanic" i do agree that the religous aspects are dangerous and displeasing, but the form and art are not that dangerous. eaven if physical martial arts is spiritualy dangerous, kung fu would be one of the least physikal spiritual dangerous in the form tha. in an okinava or japanese martial arts. mostly bicuse many christians quit. the japanese martial arts but in the kung fu perspective, we get more interested in the art than on piwer or revenge. the lord told me also to practice it with love. i woud try to talk with the lord about my opinion.
i was watching martial arts in this youtube and this displayed in the thumbnail, i clicked it because of curiusity but before that i watched the other thumbnails and when i was streaming this video i never got interested first but deep within someone told me to keep watching and my obsession for martial arts are against it but i keep goin on and it kind of relates to my situation were i am put between obeying christ and at the same time having the pleasure of my body of doing kung fu and thank God this video exist and God made this guy as the person that is already been there and God saved him...

As an instructor I do appreciate the views you have here about the martial arts. I am sorrowful for the way the martial arts was presented to you early in life. You said a lot here that should be dissected, but from an apologetics standpoint this is a skillset like any other that can be used for the glory of God. Any tool is neutral, but in the hands of the user it is an extension of their body or will. Pride rules a lot of the martial arts world, and there are metaphysical things that we are warned to stay away from. Ex: emptying your mind for meditation is taught, but if you empty your mind of Christ... Nothing is left but the evil heart of man. You're a great example of someone put on a path of excellence but without the right person at the helm, and it's awesome to see God back in control.

What are "right" martial arts? This is an honest question, not trying to be confrontational.
When I started watching this I thought you were one of those preachers who hasn't even tried what they were preaching against and just says "THERE'S DEMONS IN IT!!!" But your whole life is a story of why martial arts are wrong. Instead of looking at it for only five seconds and hating on it.

Eric, you mentioned that the Star of David only appeared in Judaism 150 years ago. I was recently watching a video where some Jewish Scholars didn't even understand where the Star of David came from. The Jewish Scholars knew everything there is to know about Christianity , but didn't know where their own Star of David came from . If you go to Acts 7:42-43; Amos 5:26-27, it talks about the star of remphan and how Israel was worshiping moloch. Then if you do a search, what does the star of Remphan look like you will find that it looks exactly like the Star of David.

One thing that you are correct about. Both martial arts and Christianity are religious. The only question is . . . which one is the Truth, and which is merely a counterfeit? And what is at the end of that "path" if a person chooses the eastern spiritual practices? Do they reveal the One and Only Creator of heaven and earth? Do they share the love of Almighty God (Jehovah, Yehuwah Elohim) for you personally? or do the spirits which work through these arts blind men's eyes so that they may not see the Truth ?

I have watch 2 or 3 of your videos. And after I saw the whole thing was I going to let go of martial arts completely. I have been doing martials arts for over 20 years never got to where you got in it. I love martial arts but I didn't want it to come between me and God. I would go as far to say that I was a martial artist before I was black. So for a whole day I went through heart break because of this. I called my minister friend and I told him what was going on because I trained him in it. And as we where talking, in mid sentence a thought pop up in my mind and that thought was what did he do wrong. what I found out was interesting. what I found out was that you tried to made martial arts take the place of God. A person can do martial arts and still be a christian. Before I watch your video I looked at martial arts as a gift from God to help me through some ruff times in life. I looked at the movements from a scientific standpoint. To the people I loved I taught. and we have a great time. My teachers where my father figures when I had no father and martial arts is one of the things I stuck with that taught a lot of good things. I don't think martial art is this evil thing as long as you don't take it there. otherwise you can take anything there. My believe is that when you make anything more important than how you love people than it is wrong because God is love. In all your videos I watch, you said you made martial arts more important than your family. But for me I believe God can get gory though martial arts. but this is something I may like to discuss with you not to attack you but to get clarity.

My kids take karate and if God wants them out of it then he will have to take them out of it not me.
