Thanks Richard, it's so nice to see a great craftsman explain the process. I'm a woodwind technician by trade but I want to start building guitars. Kind of wish I did the guitar building course when I went to college (over 20 years ago now!) Have a nice Christmas too!
I’m not an expert so don’t quote me on it and please correct me if I’m wrong, most likely the reason is because the string tension. There is a lot less tension from nylon strings which is why you can make a classical or any nylon string can be more delicately constructed there’s a lot more to work with as far as voicing ect. A steel string guitar has a lot more tension than which is why they have thicker bracing eg X-brace pattern rather than lattice or fan bracing though some have been able to adapt the right thickness to allow for lattice and or a modified fan brace anywho that’s still more of an expert’s topic. Anyway as far as the neck goes because of the higher tension it will need extra support However Not all steel strings have adjustable truss rods though it is industry standard and does give to a helping hand as far as action adjustment (correcting a back bow) in older guitars they have just a thick metal bar(high industrial quality not something from bunnings) Recently some have even just added thick fibreglass truss rods, Hope I helped in some way
The most informative video I have come across on TH-cam with regards to the guitar neck well done thanks so much for sharing.
Richard, I love your work. One day I will own one of your guitars =[
Great video and very informative.
Thanks Phil, have a nice Christmas.

Why don't Spanish guitars have truss rods?
