  • Checking-out the sky around the Copper City's National Monument. Amazing how many reside in Rome, New York and have not been to the Willett visitor center. Fascinating local history inside.
Rome Fire Department. Still don't see a walk-in rescue vehicle. Yip, they're expensive. But with an airport, in the city, and microchip companies in the region and railroads, it's foolish not to have a walk-in rescue vehicle, for mass casualty treatment. I'm sure the Feds, and the New York Governor, will glady hand-out gracious funding. Rescue-1, and E-One, make a great Heavy Rescue walk-in Truck.
Mohawk River Trail walking & cycling path. It be a full day adventure to cover-it-all and the sculpture trail on Griffiss Airport. The recently installed information panels along the trail, are quite interesting. The trail is fun and now...educational. Outstanding. From Rome Free Academy, to the west-end of the city, you will not need to be on the road. Rome, NY is definitely pedestrian friendly. And needs to market that to get people outta their vehicles, that live within a couple miles of employment. Just too attached to their cars. Perhaps a tax benefit or even a employer benefit for those that opt-out of driving their vehicle. Just a thought.
The Mohawk River, is a popular spot for anglers. And popular for those without a home, during the Summer. With a wet & humid forecast, and tic season being abundant, be prudent of the health department to check homeless people for tic bites, and or give them a can of bug repellant. Just saying.
Lastly. The Immortal B-52, "The Mohawk Valley." Owned by the United States Air Force Museum. Pilots today, of the B-52's, were not even born when this aircraft was stationed with the 416th Bomb Wing, of the strategic air command. Still reminisce the days of these BUFFs, rattling the house as they scrambled east, in the early morning, training for a attack by the Soviet Union. Glorious. And the USAF, will be using the B-52, alongside the new B-21 Raider, well beyond the year 2030. No retirement soon, for an aircraft that first flew in 1952. The Fortress, will certainly deserve a national ceremony upon it's release from active duty. Gotta say, Rome, New York, definitely needs more sculptures, to attract visitors & bussiness on Griffiss business park & airport. Lots of space available. Perhaps a sculpture event or auction, in the future with various artists showing their creations, could be a possibility.
And where is a static displayof a F-106 Delta Dart, from the 49th Fighter Interceptor Squadron, once stationed at Griffiss Air Force Base? Well, there is one on display at the Evergreen aerospace museum in McMinnville, Oregon. Yip. I know. I was there.
