Professional, focused, intelligent and calming ... This doctor would likely be a good one to deliver a difficult diagnosis to a patient in a realistic but upbeat way.
Since this video there has been several journal articles published on formally updating terminology to the more appropriate waggle. Wiggle as you point out is a outdated silly term. It is still acceptable in this transitionary period but do keep and eye on the BMJ for updates.
With a time turner anything is possible and in several takes he asked the patient to do a big pterodactyl scream... we managed to standardise that out in the editing.
It's important to be culturally sensitive so alternative approaches are always useful based on the sociopsychosexual and politico-cultural-econominic background of the patient, for example if it was my mother I'd ask her to imitate the noise of a wine bottle popping, for some patients the noise of a fox who has gotten into a rubbish bin during the darkness. However always make sure to avoid potential PTSD triggers like bear growling or the mating call of a turkey. What works best for you?
KCL Kumec it's an asmr inside joke. As puttingapieceofpaper. Or fightfightfight. Or 'it was your face' thing. We in asmr love those sentences. Oh, and 'double vision', that's great as well.
My dream is that one day I sneak into my doctor studio before he arrives and do a neuro exam to a patient Then when my doctor arrives at the studio I just jump out of the window...
So many issues here: 1) Doctors work in either a surgery or a practice, or if you're of an American persuasion maybe an 'office' 2) Ensure it's a ground floor window; 3) Whilst I don't want to put your dream down - dream bigger! Aside a potential professionalism/probity character flaw, you seem like you may be interested in applying to medical school... Dr Luis?
Adam Haywood they're not inside. Btw we all appreciate the importance of such tutorials, just we do not watch them for learning purpose. I just love any kind of medical examination. So, keep.on doing more videos, I'll be first line to give thumbs up
brilliant! I have a few questions... In which cases is this examination performed? A concussion maybe? And how would you perform it on children? Just curious! Thank you and keep up the nice work!
Hi Fleurletta, thanks for your nice comment. So it's the comprehensive examination of cranial nerves, sometimes you would do the entire thing or sometimes would focus on one or two nerves that have a problem. Children are really interesting and some can be done just as you would an adult, but often requires different ways of asking them to do things for example we often use a sticker on the end of a pen or stick for them to follow with their eyes.
If a patient had Ebola what would you do also I would prefer to do a test on a patient that is sick or something so we could see how the doc reacts and if badly he may need a cranial nerve examination
Your approach to ebola may differ depending on many factors - see this useful video th-cam.com/video/lAz-F1QnyCk/w-d-xo.html The first few takes there was something wrong with both patient and doctor, trust me!
Are we going to hit the 100,000 views?!? Cover one eye and follow my finger if you're excited! If we reach 100K views I'll work on posting some of our bloopers! If we reach 100k subscribers then we'll re-make the video with the doctor shirtless lol!
If we did that right the doctor and the patient are supposed to get red in the face but I suspect only I got red in the face this time
Sorry - your google translate doesn't seem to have worked.
Any double vision?
KCL Kumec its from the LaFontaine nerve exam. Like most of these comments are.
Fight fight fight fight fight
Excuse my sandwich breath 😂
I've got to say that's a really handsome doctor
I'm sure he appreciates your feedback, but more importantly is he a good doctor? We think so.
We desperately need more good doctors in the UK- I wouldn't care if they looked like the back end of a bus as long as they were a good doctor.
All the Doctors were good, the 13th one will be even better...

If I get an exam like this, I think I would fall asleep.. it looks so relaxing

Is it medically acceptable to wiggle your fingers instead of waggle them?
Since this video there has been several journal articles published on formally updating terminology to the more appropriate waggle. Wiggle as you point out is a outdated silly term. It is still acceptable in this transitionary period but do keep and eye on the BMJ for updates.
KCL Kumec what is Waggle I never heard that term?
It's a Protestant Wiggle.
Just go lovely and floppy...
@@KCLKumec oh I now love this channel
He’s like Doctor Gill without glasses and probably a little younger
With a time turner anything is possible and in several takes he asked the patient to do a big pterodactyl scream... we managed to standardise that out in the editing.

Nor loveliness and swappiness
He’s no Dr. Gill
He seems to be a good doctor but he missed a fundamental step of having sandwich breath...
What is sandwich breath ?
The doctor is pretty relaxing. That is marvellous for tester.
Agree - a nice balanced of a relaxed approach to getting it all done in a short time frame is an amazing skill.
That doctor is gorgeous 😍😍😍 Wish we had docs like him in Canada 😂
You are right. That doctor is so gorgeous.
It is wonderful and easiest video I have ever seen thanks
Kcl are you aware that sandwich breath is a condition ?
Sadly, we haven't caught up with the latest edition of The New England Journal of Medicine so please enlighten us!

Is there any cranial nerve exam video where they do the exam on a affected patient rather than on a normal person?
I'm pretty sure this kind of test is just used on students to grade them, but doctors just run through them with real patients.
My dream is that one day I sneak into my doctor studio before he arrives and do a neuro exam to a patient

So the ASMR videos were pretty accurate with the tests.
I thought they were random "tests" till I saw this real exam.
That's nice to know tbqh.
Well the numbers they say are random lol

So the Brits are too busy pronouncing the first H in herbs to include the first H in ophthalmoscopy.
God damn, he's hot.
Checking temperatures wouldn't normally be part of a cranial nerve exam to be honest.
Its a handsome doctor.
Hey, that's not dr. Gill...
This isnt Dr. Gil.
Right on that knuckle
Legit I would've failed each of those tests, double vision=yes, weak muscles=yes especially those eye ones
You should see me try to pass an MMSE!

Very handsome man, my goodness.
Any double vision, any double vision, any double vision...
Where is this girl from? She's pretty
She's from GKT School of Medical Education where all our future doctors are pretty intelligent! (And by pretty I mean exceptionally!)
KCL Kumec no wonder! I love everyone in London especially smart people

Wiggle is an alternative option but we do prefer Waggle™
How did you learn she is female? She didn't say that, nor did you inspect.
We are just good at guessing?!?
Indeed! One must never assume a person's gender in 2019.

She wants him so bad
