I live in NC but was hiking in eastern Kansas when I received hundreds of tick bites while hiking. I removed at least one adult female Lone Star Tick but the vast majority were what we originally thought were chiggers and later realized were seed ticks. I was later diagnosed with Alpha-gal after three reactions within a months time with each reaction worse than the one before. The third reaction was severe and prompted me to contact an allergist. Alpha-gal confirmed by blood test as a very strong positive. Meat causes anaphylaxis and dairy causes severe stomach issues. I now have epi on hand just in case it is needed. This is a very serious tick issue and I hope that more research can be done to find a treatment to try to reduce the alpha-gal IgE numbers back to normal for those suffering with this.
My parents have told me that I had tested positive for meat allergies both times they had me tested in my younger years. Then, they did the questionable thing of trying to feed me some meat, and that because I didn't go into anaphylactic shock they believed I had outgrown the allergy. Well, as much as I can remember of my time in k-12 school I was constantly sick and struggling with hypoglycemia. I don't think I missed any fewer than 30 days of school a year from not feeling well (in addition to the days I went despite feeling under the weather) and it was uncommon to go a day without the need for extra glucose through the use of glucose tablets or a food. Controlling my blood sugar was a real struggle for me during this time. If it wasn't for my older brother, I could have easily died from one of my blood sugar crashes. On the way to the hospital, paramedics checked my sugar and it was in the teens. Shortly after that incident, my endocrinologist tried to get my sugar to crash in an observed environment through fasting at a hospital, during which time it actually went up just a tad. Then, as soon as the test was over I was back to fighting constant low blood sugar. Then, around the time I turned 18 I decided to try a vegetarian diet. Immediately I started feeling better and started to notice a trend in not needing additional glucose. While I started exercising around the same time, that was short lived, but the lack of illness and blood sugar problems persisted. That went on, and about 10 years later I tried eating a steak as I considered the idea of trying to leave my vegetarian diet behind. Well, the next day I felt like I was going to be sick. I ditched the idea and by the next day I was feeling better. Despite everything that has happened, the only thing that has stayed consistent over the last 12+ years is my vegetarian diet. Exercise has come and gone, I've gone through different eating phases and my weight has gone up and down 75+ pounds. However, I've been sick less in the last 12 years than I was in 1 year in high school and haven't had to monitor my blood sugar for the same amount of time.
That's how I found out I had this , I've had all this now for 12 years. I got it from tick bite, I live in Carthage N.C. I still have trouble from time to time but I do see a very good Allergy Doctor here close to my area. The breakouts can be SO Bad, I can see the hives just running down my legs, it was Bad!!!!
This was incredibly helpful, thank you. I'm starting to believe that I have a red meat allegy after years of thinking it was more significant issues ranging from hernia in my diaphragm to pancreatic cancer. I don't get hives or anything else, all my issues are stomach related, and I noticed after a long time that I was only having issues when I ate red meat or dairy.
My test came back negative, but my allergist told me that meat allergies for some people are delayed, in that it wouldn't show up on a ELISA. But, I literally can't eat any meat. I staved off meat for weeks, and they tried to eat meat this past week. I was sick within the 24 hours. Sharp shooting pains, in my chest, abdomen, barely breathing. I vomited out bits of meat. I didn't eat any meat and I still vomited out bits of meat.

Anytime you eat something and it itches or red bumps in your mouth. Your body is trying to tell you something. Take 16 ounces of Water + 1 tblsp of Baking Soda. Mix it and then rinse your mouth with it. This will help you get rid of itchiness or red bumps in mouth.
