I’ve got the rod he’s using ,it’s brilliant rod I’ve had carp to 21lbs on it at halcroft fishery ,I have had some beautiful rods over the years from a Bruce and walker xlt to normark titans and this rod for 130£ is fantastic

I have a 20 year old Shimano Powerloop 13ft match 390 rod. It weighs 160 grams and has a power action. The latest X5 13ft Waggler is 162 grams and is a much softer Rod. Colleague at my club has one. It's a bit whippy in the top 3rd.
I think this shows that Rods haven't really moved on for many years.
The Powerloop is a far superior Rod than today's offerings.

You're comparing rods that have different functions. Comparing a 20-year-old general purpose 13ft power float rod with a much shorter through action pellet waggler rod, proves that makers have moved on from simply designing short float rods as miniature versions of longer ones, to rods with actions to suit the venue and the method.

@@kevinsteele7232 I am not comparing a 13ft power rod to a much shorter rod as you say. I am comparing like for like 13ft Shimano rods. The 20 year old 13ft powerloop is far superior rod to the latest 13ft X5 offering.

Hi Nick, I will be buying this rod when they come back in stock but want to pair it with the Shimano Sahara 2500 double handle reel. Will this be a good combination?
