Hi, great review of a piece of history that has been made for modellers after many years of being ignored, it looks very nice indeed, I did ask the main man from Bachmann at a model railway show about a dummy car to which he replied it would cost just as much to produce as the power car, I don’t believe that as a dummy car has no motor and a less functional pcb like Hornby do, maybe as a business point of view it’s probably less work even if the pcb was probably a standard item used in another product they produce, I think the packaging could have been more upmarket instead of just the sleeve, they could have produced some coaches with matching livery with super detailing and lighting like the Midland/Western Pullman sets which are for me the best train sets you can buy in OO gauge, the potential for Bachmann to produce a class 43 HST is there but I doubt it will ever happen, many thanks for sharing.
The original blue/yellow/grey HST is still the best in my opinion and always will be, I’ve seen a couple of TH-camrs who have the class 41 HST, one was a resin kit and the coaches were painted in the same livery to match, it won’t be a massive issue to get some period coaches painted in this livery, maybe they will be available through the Bachmann collectors club.
@@StormmyStormmy yes I tried building one of those kits but failed spectacularly, if you can mks at a good price I'm thinking of painting some I have a mk1 buffet coach ready, when I am able too,
I actually bought a pair of sound fitted models and a rake of mk3s to relivery. The prototype HST is probably the train i have always wanted more than anything else. It is superb. I think the box info is incorrect however. I am sure 41001 became 43000. 41002 became 43001. First production power car was 43002, now preserved at NRM York. 41001 at NRM Shildon
