Japan is SUCH a cool place to visit. People there welcome you with open arms, always happy to talk about fellow passions, professions, and interests. My first trip to Tokyo changed my life in many ways, but most of all it opened my eyes for being part of a local community. Even in a mega city.
I fully expect this oakes x instagrant collab trip is gonna produce fire content. Jimmy getting in a few days early with grant will absolutely get him ready for when everyone arrives and we get to see some dope tandem content. Can't wait for more!
Thank you very much for coming to Japan! Amazing, you guys even went to Hitachinaka! It's a very local place. And you were looking for a restroom. The button-lock door you guys were struggling with was used for toilet doors in Japan a while back. The way it is used is that the right side twists open to the left, and when the button is pressed from the inside, the door locks shut and does not open from the outside. Many people often forget to press the button, so you need to be careful because it is possible to be opened from the outside. Please come visit Japan again!

So happy for you being able to go to Japan for your first time! Going with Grant and then being around a bunch of stuff you already know is going to help a lot. Me and a group of 5 friends are going in July for 2 weeks and none of us have been before so it should be interesting for the first couple days. None of them are into cars though, I'd love to go on a car focused trip but it'd just be too much money and I'd have to go alone. Can't even afford to do much with cars at home, haha. I'm hoping to at least be able to visit a couple museums in Tokyo and see some cool stuff driving around.
The Mini has been loved by the japanese for a long time because of it's size. With all the narrow streets in the urban cities the Mini was ideal to drive. They are a smiles per hour kind of cars. Freakin' awsome little things.

I appreciate it when TH-camrs and others visit Japan and actually explore the place, The worst people are the ones who fly out and just spend there entire time at Ebisu, Get out there people, go to Akihabara go to the shrines, he’ll go have a coffee at DZs cafe in gunma and get your initial d vibes on
@jimmy oakes I've literally just got back from Japan, did a bunch of car stuff for once, hired a sienta from Times car at HND. Did up garage , super auto Bach's and Daikoku PA. Enjoy that feeling, of feeling totally out of place and overwhelmed. Have fun !
Jimmy, I love this for you. Your reaction is the same we’d all have going for our first time. I think it’s safe to say this is a big goal for many of your viewers, you’re fucking killing it! Also, take the compass on your phone and see if the head of your bed faces North. If not, rotate the bed that direction so you have better sleep and wake up more refreshed to get rid of that jet lag!

The up garage is where a lot of the locals park their custom parts for the off season . Sort of like a pawn shop for car guys don’t tie up a lot of cash in a parked car take it the tasty bits to upgarage and get them again later.

I can't wait to go back to Japan later this year. I went back in Jan for TAS and got to drift (Shoutout to Thrash Racing). It was the best thing ever. Jimmy, If you get time, go to Osaka and hit up the Thrash Racing guys!
Big takeaway for 1st time large westerners in Japan is body parts will be hanging off of furniture and crammed into confining spaces, so if you're claustrophobic prepare yourself. other than that Japan is an amazing place!
