Have you considered pitching this idea straight to LEGO themselves?
The end result is so awesome that it basically screams "an official set". Would be a relatively simple yet record-breaking project at the same time, right?
LEGO has like... what, only 2 sets ever made with 10,000+ pieces? Lucky Number 3 this creation would be!

Hey Alex - so I did actually submit it to Lego Ideas but they told me it was far too large. They said I should try to build a yacht under 3000 pieces which I may do at some point.
Either way, I'm currently in the process of revamping the instructions for this yacht so they can be available to people for a modest price if they want to build it themselves.

They're _WHAT?!_
"Far too large" _even for them?_ *That's ridiculous!* It didn't stop them from making the monumental 10,001-piece Eiffel Tower or the significantly scaled-down Titanic - now they suddenly don't want to create _anything larger than that?_
I'd chalk it up to "missed opportunity". Under 3000 pieces... come on, passionate LEGO fans can handle far bigger amount.

@@alexfischer7876 I'd agree - as I like the huge mega project builds myself. But business wise - I'm guessing it just comes down to manufacturing time/cost and pricing. A set like this with 16,000+ pieces - they'd probably have to sell for at least $1600-2000 - and they're probably wagering WHO would actually spend that much - people are already upset with how expensive Lego has become - not to mention the time investment on their end organizing parts/instructions/logistics etc. I'm guessing the 3,000 piece limit is their cut off that they've decided will wield a worthy ROI.

Awesome build would also like to build it but don't have room for it. Detail is much like the titanic wich I am also building. A smaller version would look just as awesome I think

There will be 5 types of people: The one who places it on a shelf and it stays there forever, the one who plays with it with minifigures, the one that will sink it in real water, the one who will make movie out if it and the one that is broke and cant buy it

Funny you mention that - eventually I plan to harvest the pieces from this build to create an even LARGER yacht. However before I take this one apart - I plan on making a video to see if it floats - hence sinking it in real water.

Je suis actuellement en train de refaire les instructions en ce moment pour qu'elles soient commercialement viables comme beaucoup de gens l'ont demandé. Une fois qu'ils seront prêts, je le ferai savoir à tout le monde. Ils seront disponibles à l'achat pour un petit prix et seront accompagnés d'un fichier numérique et d'une liste de pièces. (Le français n'est pas ma langue maternelle, veuillez donc pardonner les erreurs)
