  • Why didn't we know about this place earlier?? Seriously, we had lived in Germany for 2 years until we learned about it and made a visit! The scenery here is so cool, we definitely recommend visiting this area!

You have to go hiking more often in Franconian Switzerland. There is so much to see there. Caves, many castles, waterfalls in Gräfenberg, stalactite caves Pottenstein. All hiking videos on my channel are from Franconian Switzerland. Feel free to take a look if you are looking for specific items.

As the video opened upon the vista of Pottenstein and then took us through the Altstadt, it struck me just how appealing so many small German towns are compared with Britain. The Germans make it look so inviting for visitors, whereas all the towns near me look run down, dilapidated, as if it's a sign that the local town council just doesn't care what the place looks like.

South Germany is giving tourists a distorted impression of the country.
Once you go above bavaria and baden-württemberg, everything looks a lot more familiar to you 😉
Also keep in mind that every place looks a LOT nicer in sunlight, compared to grey clouds and rain.
I'm currently staying in the very south-west in Freiburg, and have many relatives a bit further north near Offenburg.
It's no comparison to the "Ostwestfalen" region in the center of Germany, where I live.
The weather, architecture, food, nature, cleanliness, bike infrastructure, jobs... Everything is better in the south!
...ok, except for cellphone coverage. That totally sucks down here!
And the prices, especially for food. I'm supposed to pay 7€ for a handful of fries with mayonnaise! Can you believe that?
In my hometown, people would set the "restaurant" on fire for that audacity!

    • @SuperLittleTyke

Thank you for yet another beautiful video. I really enjoy your mixture of landscapes you portray as well as food and culture. I have looked through your playlist and wonder: have you ever been to the Elbsandsteingebirge in the southeast of Saxony? It is a national park and has the most bizzare rock formations that I have seen in Germany. It is also called "Saxon Switzerland", just as other parts in this country are compared to "die Schweiz".

I really enjoyed this video of yours. (okay, honestly I do enjoy them all!). I can only guess how much work you have to put into your awesome work!
I know, you like it quaint and pittoresk, so, if you ever happen to be in the most northern part of Bavaria (Unterfranken), you might want to visit Miltenberg. A small town with a lot of halftimbered houses, neat cobble stone lanes and....... it is situated right at the river Main. It has a castle (die Mildenburg), an pharmacy museum and it is also called "Die Perle am Main" ... the pearl of river Main.
Willa is growing so fast, each time I watch a new video I am surprised........ and she will be a video professional soon, she actively participates more and more. So cute.

What a high effort done by the older kids to make a Happy Day only for her. 😀Nice to see you also enjoy the non well known smaller and local amusement parks. Having just watched the Indian movie Pihu (with English subtitles), I urge all parents of very young children to watch it. It is very harrowing, but worth it. Maybe watch a trailer first. It does have a happy ending for the two-year-old child, whose mother has died and the girl is left alone, her father having gone on a business trip and unaware of the fate that has befallen the mother.

The gorgeous geology you mentioned is the reason the Nazis trained there for deployment in Italy and Slovenia. Also there was a satellite camp of Flossenbürg in Pottenstein. The „Teufelshöhle“ was also developed by a Nazi called Hans Brand. The local government in Pottenstein just does not want to shine any light on that part of the town‘s history.
