Just seen the comment by Albert's son Richard(it was a while ago, but I'm new to this net surfing) Albert served his apprenticeship at Cammell Laird shipyard & was nearing the end of his time when he was offered a place at Saddlers Wells,he told Ted Griffiths, the head foreman welder, Ted wished him all the best & said he could always come back if he didn't make it.Well he did make it, tho' the army grabbed him first. We had some good parties at Grove St. Ah well, an age ago now. Bern.McElvogue.
Very beautiful and the fact that it is in English doesn't detract from Alberto Remedios' out standing rendition of this aria. Is Reg Goodall conducting?
Out of this world just fabuleux and wonderfull.Edward Arckless
I grew up with this instantly recognisable voice and his Ring in English with Rita Hunter and Norman Bailey. Genius.
Yes
The best English version of this aria without doubt... Wonderfully lyrical.
Remember this vividly and so many other great performances at ENO & ROH. He sang Erik in the first opera I ever saw in 1965.

Most probably.
Wonderful performance
The finest Wagnerian tenor of his generation. If only he had got the breaks he deserved.
