👍 As always, I look forward to your results. I'm curious if you've ever fiddled with a BBS02 & different controller. Is the DM02 more robust than the 02 to take more power?
People have used the BAC855 with the BBS02. It's not an option we offer currently. We have limited time so we pick and choose things a bit to make customer service manageable and keep quality high.
We will be selling them in the Spring ( hopefully) we just got our test unit here at Renu Cycle in Alberta. We want to give ourselves some time to get familiar, etc. with the system
Not done that so far. I can try and find out though. It's been run on our dyno setup before getting to this point and was hitting some decent figures. I We were pushing 2.5kw which was generating 15k rpm at 30% field weakening. It's a decent setup but the road will be the real test.
California Ebikes is saying not to run the stock DM02 controller above 15 amps, and no throttle. Hopefully your testing will show if the core can tolerate more, with thermal monitoring as insurance. I'd also like to see (and need) quality, high offset lower-tooth-count chainrings. Toseven's 42T ring has a 4mm penalty, and the 36T ring, as expected, is hopeless for most IGH/derailleur builds. Maybe Lekkie will step up.
I think lekkie will need to see more sales and motor in the wild before they might commit. I would like to see more options in that area and the feedback I have passed on. I had a quick throttle test with the 02 at up to 2.5kw 70 amps. I will put the video up. It's definitely going have to work within realms of physics. But considering it's 1/3 the size of the DM01 it did ok. More or less what I thought. Only ran it with the throttle so far.
I could be wrong. But I think the connectors are some form of molex connector (maybe micro JST 5pin)🤔. Hopefully, someone in the community will accurately identify it👍🏿
Hi, total noob wrt to mid drives. Currently I have a 250W front hub motor but want to switch to a mid and the ToSeven models look to be the best bang per buck at the mo. So for a general commute bike in the UK which would you recommend, the 01 or the 02? Thanks.
If you want a throttle the 01 is a better bet. The same goes if it's a heavier bike with cargo. If it's just pedal assist you want then the 02 is perfectly fine. It's less powerful but also quite a bit cheaper. Other options are the bbs motors although no torque sensing on those. You are welcome on our Discord to post frame pic's and get help. Links in the description.
Can the TSZ2 OSF work with the ToSeven controller as that can allow 16+ amps, certainly more than that motor can handle due to poor heat dissipation but will easily give 750W ish?
The firmware won't transfer accross as it's not the same controller. I believe TOSEVEN are considering having the firmware open source though so people can work on it.
I'm in the UK so looking at a low profile motor like the DM02, I'll certainly be following this ....
Cool! Hopefully this testing will show its a bit stronger than people have been giving it credit for.
👍

This is one of the things that I have been wondering about the DM02 and wanted to know. Thanks.
I'd also like to know where I can buy one, LOL!
Where are you located?
In the US california-ebike is taking orders, not sure if they are delivering yet.
I'm in Canada, where can I find a setup?@@HighVoltageKits

Have you measured the laminations in the stator? How thick are they? Does it use litz wire for the winding? What diameter?

Hello, would it be possible to replace the nylon gear with a steel one? I see that the nylon one can wear out quickly or break.
Yes if there is one made for it. We will likely look at making one from PEEK first as the metal gears always mean noise.
Is the DM02 suitable for a trike? Can it be run on 52volts? Great video, thanks!
Following this build - 2kW would be interesting
Yeah! Hopefully I'll get it on over the weekend.
Any idea when we'll be able to buy these motors in the eu?
Polish shop ebikestuff will have then in stock in January/february
@ataksnajpera thanks a lot, any idea how much they'll cost?
@@gog2045 ~2600 - 2800 PLN

Very interesting. Listening to you speak, can I hazard a guess that you originated not many miles from Swindon, UK??
Coventry. I been in Canada a while now tho.

Thanks..I'll give it a Google. Appreciate it
@@HighVoltageKits Does the torque sensor work with external controller?
Do you know if the 250W version is just a detuned 500W? Or is it a different motor?
To the best of my knowledge it’s a slightly different motor. It definitely is for the 750 and 1000 watt versions of the dm01

Hi, is this the 48V 500W Motor?
@HighVoltageKits
Yeah. The smaller DM02 is. The DM01 I was send was the 1000 watt. The motors are physically different for the power levels.

Do you happen to know stock controller specs?
those plugs look like jst1 .
Cheers. Very close. But not quite the same sadly.
