I was at this concert. Testament, Megadeth and Judas Priest were the headliners. What an awesome show. Even after all these years I still have memories from all three of the bands. 🤘😎🤟
You may know: Drummer Scott Travis recorded several albums with Racer X, before joining Priest. When Rob left, Scott went with him, and together, they formed the band Fight.
Painkiller all the way! It was summer of 91 and we went to the " operation rock and roll " tour. Judas priest, Alice Cooper motorhead, metal church and dangerous toys. We couldn't be bothered with seeing dangerous toys or metal church( fuck " date with poverty" ) motorhead kicked ass as usual, but Alice made a HUGE mistake. Because it was Detroit he insisted on going on last! Whoops! Alice was good, but priest, touring behind painkiller and the first tour with Scott Travis on drums, they totally kicked Alice's ass! We left before Alice was finished, and he was touring behind that horrible " hey Stoopid" record. I've seen priest many times since( and Alice) but that was the most ferocious high energy priest show ever!!!!!
We got lucky with Painkiller because they did Two major tours behind it. Operation R+R, and with Testament and Megadeth opening up. Because of who was opening on the latter they gave it everything and schooled the young Thrash bands. Truly awesome gig.
Both are awesome! Painkiller was my introduction to Priest and Rust was my intro to Deth so yeah.. they both hold a special place in my heart! That being said... Painkiller>RIP. I agree with the filler part on Rust... JP's album IS sort of one dimensional but I LOVE the dimension they chose lol
Ok,this could be good. Holy War ( hurt) Anger 18 ( hurt) Take no Prisoners ( hurt) Five Magic( hurt) Metal Meltdown ( hurt) Night Crawler ( hurt) Tornado of Souls ( hurt) Dawn Patrol ( hurt) Polaris Break Point
1. Painkiller 2. Hangar 18 3. All Guns Blazing 4. Leather Rebel 5. Poison Was the Cure 6. Night Crawler 7. Tornado of Souls 8. A Touch of Evil 9. Polaris... Rust in Peace 10. One Shot at Glory
Both have there moments.....1990 battle 1. Painkiller 2. Hell patrol 3. Take no prisoners 4. Leather rebel 5. Metal meltdown 6. Nightcrawler 7. Tornado of souls 8. Touch of evil 9. Polaris 10. One shot of glory
I like both, but prefer Painkiller. 1. Painkiller 2. Hangar 18 3. All Guns Blazing 4. Leather Rebel 5. Metal Meltdown 6. Night Crawler 7. Between the Hammer and the Anvil 8. Touch of Evil 9. Polaris 10. One Shot at Glory Priest 8 Megadeth 2
Very much agree about the albums in general. I'm a huge Priest fan, and all albums from before Turbo are more important than Painkiller to me. RIP is indeed Megadeth 4th best album, after the first three.
Painkiller wins 5.5 - 4.5 Painkiller, Holy Wars = two of the greatest Metal songs of the era, so I can't separate them. Hell Patrol All Guns Blazing Five Magics Metal Meltdown Night Crawler Tornado of Souls Touch of Evil Rust in Peace....Polaris Break Point
Once again, you parallel my thoughts. Are you like my long lost brother or something? I love Painkiller, but totally it's one-dimensional. They got ragged on for Ram It Down, for being a "collection of songs". As an album though, I like it better, and of course, Defenders, and the classics. I agree with all your picks, except the first. And my disagreement is, How do you pick between two of the most awesome metal songs? Painkiller and Holy Wars both rule. Maybe you need to add a function to your ratings where in case of a tie, they each get a half point? Shmakemagob, I think I'll go listen to some Priest and Megadeth. Cheers!🤘🤘
Love Priest, but was never a fan of Painkiller. Also agree with your Megadeth rankings.... 1. Holy Wars 2. Hangar 18 3. Take no Prisoners 4. Five Magics 5. Poison was the cure 6. Lucretia 7. Tornado of souls 8. Dawn Patrol 9. Polaris 10. Break point
I think Painkiller is a somewhat overrsted ach mot as much as Rust in peace! That being said Painkiller is a try-hard album it one of the best "return to form" albums I can think of!?
I've also thought these two albums are over rated, but still very good. However, and being such a big Priest fan this hurts, I think Painkiller is much more over rated than Rust In Peace.
1. Painkiller 2. Hangar 18 3. All Guns Blazing 4. Five Magics 5. Metal Meltdown 6. Night Crawler 7. Tornado of Souls 8. A Touch of Evil 9. Rust in Peace... Polaris 10. One Shot at Glory Painkiller: 6 Rust in Peace: 4
RUST IN PEACE is lacking the funk and the fun of Peace Sells...But Who's Buying?. It's too dry. PAINKILLER is not my favorite Priest album but it it's better than RIP.
Absolutely adore both albums, but Painkiller for me. For me both bands have released better albums after than these . Megadeth with Dystopia and Judas Priest with Firepower. Both bands are still putting out amazing music.
God damned… you Painkiller fan boys are insane. Priest trying to fit in with the thrash scene. So pathetic this album is. Inspired only by money and greed and trying to react to the scene. Lmfao
I saw Megadeth live and it was the worst phoned in performance I've ever seen. I was super bummed out. Judas even though a bunch of old fuckers...tore the roof off.
Painkiller is my favorite Judas Priest album ever. People has said "That's Priest trying to do thrash metal". I disagree. Painkiller doesn't sound like thrash at all. Not even speed metal. To me, their faster songs remind me of how Saxon or Maiden play their uptempo songs: "This Town Rocks" "Aces High" etc. Anyway, I love it. And I'm not a big Megadeth guy. Pass.
The song Painkiller is a great showcase for drummer Scott Travis, who came from the shred band, Racer X. Priest made good use of his skills, by writing a song he could show off on.
@@Bob-r4b6v Oh wow, I didn't know he was in that band with Paul Gilbert. But absolutely, as you pointed out, Travis is putting on a drum clinic on Painkiller. It rips.
@paulosicne8498 Check out Scott's work in Racer X. Everyone in that band was a monster player. (I met Paul Gilbert at a guitar clinic. He was awesome.) When Rob Halford left Priest after Painkiller, Scott Travis went with him, and together, they formed the band 'Fight.' Their '93 album 'War Of Words' is a heavy metal classic. One of the guitar players in Fight, Russ Parrish, is now known as Satchel, in the band Steel Panther.

I saw this tour also at Oakland Coliseum, I was late tho and missed Testament. 🤟
Soon as I heard that drum intro to painkiller I was hooked. Found my copy in a pawn shop for £1.49 bargain
You may know: Drummer Scott Travis recorded several albums with Racer X, before joining Priest. When Rob left, Scott went with him, and together, they formed the band Fight.
Two of my favorite records!!!! This should be good, thanks Doc!
Painkiller a metal masterpiece wishing you all the best Joseph and get well soon you rock
Both are awesome..
I would expect no more,i love both albums to death and both bands🤟🤟

I saw that tour at Shoreline in the Bay Area California. I went for Priest, Motörhead and Metal Church it was an amazing show. 🤟

Hammer and the Anvil sounds like Whole Lotta Love
Love these 2 records. Hard to choose for me.

Awesome vs Masterpiece!
It’s not often I would pick an album over Judas Priest, but Megadeth wins this one. Rust in Piece is almost perfect. Great video.

You should use the cover art as a tie breaker. Thanks Doc, great battle.
Good albums for a battle. Hard choice, but without doing a track by track I will have to go with the mighty Priest. PAIN!
Rust in Peace
Judas priest painkiller 10
Megadeth rust in Peace nothing
Judas priest rules no doubt about it end of story
I like both, but prefer Painkiller.

'The System Has Failed' is a killer Megadeth album, featuring the return of original guitarist Chris Poland.
@@Bob-r4b6v Listened to that one quite a bit when it was the newest one out. Die Dead Enough, Kick the Chair, Something That I'm Not... good stuff.
@@Steambull1 I played it 2 weeks ago, and loved it. I had forgotten how good it is, after not listening to it for many years.

Megadeth for me
2 years ago you ranked Rust your second favorite Megadeth album. What changed?
Just got bored hearing it.
