  • This screencast reviews what Bowen's Reaction Series is, how we can use it to understand which minerals are forming under which conditions (temperature, pressure) and which minerals we can expect to find in the different types of igneous rocks.

    I can see that there is a relation between higher temperature and greater depth - and therefore higher pressure - in the Earth.
    However, according to your presentation, Bowen simply heated the rocks. So his experiments did not actually simulate higher temperatures AND higher pressures.
    Otherwise, nice presentation. Thank you.

    Hey Jen, I found this helpful but it is a little bit tricky to comprehend when you call it granit for 6 minutes and then in the last 30 seconds you finally call it felsic
