Cool video. I purchased these from the company you mentioned for Geronimo’s Revenge. We had a problem with the first ones coming in all warped out of shape… they got too hot on the vehicle during shipping plus were left outside in the Arizona heat when delivered. Luckily I purchased the insurance which paid for replacements They aren’t cheap…
I remember a scene from the long ago series "Get Smart", where Max plans to break a bottle over the bar and threaten the bad guy with the sharp end. They intentionally used a real bottle and fake wood for the bar so that he ends up breaking a piece of the wood off. Things just never went too well for good ol' Max.
Ah! Put blood in the newer style breakaway bottles so that when they break, the actor looks very badly hurt. Thanks, Santee! I already have a liter of blood. (This is the part where I mention it's fake blood which I bought _technically_ last year for Halloween.) Happy New Year, Santee! 🎉

Another great video! I saw a buddy get hit in the head with a 40 oz bottle and it didn’t break, it just made a thud and knocked him down. It surprised me after seeing all those cowboy movies.

There's another style of breakaway bottle that has another breakaway inside the bottle. A small quantity of liquid, such as ambient temperature tea, can be poured in to make it look like bottle is full despite having but a few ounces of fluid. This allows what appears to be a 'full' bottle to be smashed without mass of the liquid present, or in the case as in Animal House, allowed actor John Belushi, to appear to guzzle a full bottle of whiskey before breaking it. (Check that scene in movie specifically when they're confiscating things out of the frat house, that trick bottle is quite obvious.)

When the country group Montgomery Gentry made the video for the song,"Hell Yeah!",those were real Nashville Metro Police officers in the scenes. During one take, someone deliberately broke a breakaway bottle on a cop's head saying"I just busted a beer bottle on a cop's head and ain't nothing he can do about it!"
Groan. Making 200 candy lollipops with my sister , for my daughter's wedding favors was a nightmare. Sugar glass may have been easier. You gotta have that sugar mix at the exact right temp then pull it off the heat asap. Pour it into the molds as quick as you can cause it starts to cool and harden. Oh and each one had a real flower in it. You also have to use the right kind of sugar. Sis and I were so frustrated we started having shots of booze...lol. Funny how after that, the entire process went a bit smoother! Tip: if you pour sugar glass onto wax paper, coat it with softened butter first or the waxed paper will not peel off.
It's still looks painful when you get hit with a bottle. But it's pretty cool how they thought to use the candy glass. All those tricks in the movies. Thanks for sharing., 🤠🌵

I’m thinking about adding breakaway bottles to my old West inspired sci-fi cosmic horror and Sci-fi fantasy story I’m writing. I think having a fight scene with breakaway bottles in my story would be very interesting, to make it more interesting I’ll throw in some more sci-fi fantasy type items as well.

it’s not only like candy, it really is candy as the exact same ingredients as hard candy. the difference being the ratios of ingredients and time cooked. it’s still sharp so they have to take care but otherwise it’s safe to use. more than likely they borrowed the formula from candy makers and simply left out the food coloring i swear watching too many cooking shows finally paid off🤣

Here’s s the plot concept from my book: Many years have past since the two years happened in the year 2023, that were called the conflict for the gems an d the sealing war. The planet of Alessaeia is now peaceful again, well somewhat at least. However one day on September 26th of the current year 8588, the ancient archaic book of Skythos was stolen from the ancient library within Hÿron tower, by someone unknown. Whoever stole it must’ve headed into the nearby unconnected Jeweled Sapphire desert. No one knows for sure where in the desert the book of Skythos was taken to or who stole it. However since the unknown malevolent cosmic demon lord Balos is sealed within it, its very important that the book is found and returned. I hope you all like this plot concept for my book
