I quite like the bios on the Sims 4 but I wish the Sim's abilities and relationships match what the bios say. The bio of the Pancakes for example say their marriage is on the rocks but when I visit their household their relationship is fine.
Exactly! The lore is there but the problem is, the lore's not actually happening! Another example is the Calientes, according to their backstory Katrina invited Don, her new "boy toy" to live with her, but Don being non-committal, the question is whether he'd stay loyal or end up screwing around with Nina & Dina. But play the Calientes, and Don doesn't have any romance with any of them. The lore would be better if they simply made it more than just writing.
I must say that the sims 4 has townies and stories that aren't set up, which is frustrating. Howeverrr as a story-based, rotational gameplay simmer, it's the best for just plopping in a sim family and running with a story without all the distractions and the set up, even without mods is not terrible (UI, MCCC, and KS' life decider are blessed). If the sims 4 dev team had made the lore in the bios match the gameplay (like in cottage living) from day one, then the game would have been really good. What i hate about sims games is that when making teen+ sim, there's no way the sim would have zero skills - so the story feature in cas is really helpful. Highly recommend making over all the townies and if you have the ability to dl mods, make their stories in the sims and play with them, its actually really fun to follow the bios
The bios are pretty open ended too. Like there's a real option to destroy 2 families in Mt Komerebi but you could decide to have the past remain in the past. Personally I want the drama. I think I will drop a nuclear bomb affair.
I did this to the Mt. Komorebi families and even managed to go as far as changing some existing narrative to add intensity to Naoki Ito's threat to the community which is literally non existent lol
Yeah I think that's whats truly frustrating about the lore... it isn't for the lack of lore, but the failure to put the lore into gameplay. For ex. Play the Pancakes, and their marriage actually seems pretty functional if you just let them do their thing... or the Calientes, Don's whole story is that he's a non-committal romantic boy toy in a house with 3 women. Don moved in with Katrina. From what it sounds like, they should have some romance, but they don't. He hasn't got any romance with Nina or Dina either.
People keep forgetting about Paka Uha. He's a Sulani mermaid sim who has the feminine frame, just as Lia Houta is masculine. He can also impregnate. I don't care about LGBT+ labels but I'm sure he is suppose to be the opposite of Lia. So he's either trans, non-binary or just a pretty dude who happens to look like a chick. Sadly, Paka can't be found in any houshold. You either come across him by chance or look for him in the Manage Household.
Yuki Behr is my favorite pre-made sim! She's so much like me as a teen. And since some bad things happened to me as a teen, it kind of feels therapeutic to give Yuki a great rest of her childhood.
Well Candy and Yuki is not really introduced in the Sims 4. Their names actually derived from MySims series, along with Travis, Summer and Liberty. But their story and physical appearance in Windenburg yes, it's purely from Sims 4 because they are not sisters in MySims.
Tbh I don't know why everybody's thrashing Eliza and painting Bob innocent. To me, they both are to blame with their ruined marriage; and yes, Bob IS difficult to live with, considering his condition and how his traits are clashing with Eliza's. Plus, not everyone have resources to help people like Bob constantly.
I literally spent time going through the worlds today. I'm working on a megasave that I intend to play round style. The plan originally was to wipe them all clean mostly and make my own townies. But I was struggling for idea's so I decided to keep a few household's to build off. After looking at each household's bio I noticed I kept every household in some worlds. I'm actually kinda interested in a lot of the households across the game.
I love imagining Vlad as just this lonely old man and he just walks around but he’s never had a friend before so he has no idea to approach your Sim. He built his house on his own so that’s why it looks as it does. And he likes to go around put flowers on the graves of people he doesn’t even know. Just a weird old vampire.

I find more fun playing with the premade sims and deepening and/or adding my own lore to them. Currently playing with jhonny zest, I cheated his family relations so he is fighting with his brother during family reunions lol and is a 3 star comedian celebrity now
This was interesting I've only been playing the Sims for a year now and didn't know there was Sims with stories until I heard about the Goths. And there's not much vids about the lore because it seems like every simmer on youtube has been playing for decades now and already know all of the lore and doesn't want to explain. When the Sims 4 first premiered, Eliza would “stalk” people. Example: she would show up to your house Every. Single. Day. Plus her character didn’t have a job so it would go hand in hand. Also, while Bob will be at work, she will have relations with other sims. This probably changed since the game update(s). ☺️
I think the Eco Lifestyle Sims are my favourites. It was my favourite world so I've become very attached to the time and have them set not to age so they're always around my game.

The Sims 4 don’t really have storylines going at the start but sometimes a story will develop on its own w/o interference. Like on one of my saves, Mortimer was having an affair with Nancy Landgraab!! I only found out bc I went to check on them bc Bella Goth and Mortimer were always walking around angry/sad.
I love the Bjergisons. Bjorn is hot so I always have him gloomy because he is secretly harbouring his true feelings about his Sexuality and my self sim becomes his gateway out of it. He keeps a goof relationship with his wife and daughters afterwards though.
I would say I’m really into Cecilia from cottage living. She apparently moved out after a heart break (i would like to think she dated Akira and he broke her heart, so she moved all the way out to the countryside to start over), and then she has her awkward and bad date with Michael.
OMG. That headcanon is actually really interesting if you couple it with this other headcanon for Akira - Some players have experienced him being all lovey dovey to Miko Ojo but also really mean to her at the same time, which may clue that Akira may actually be some sort of jealous playboy.. ^ Although I had never experienced the full bout of personally because I disabled autonomous flirty, mean, and mischievous interactions because I was sick of micromanaging things lol

I know some people (or a lot of people) don't like townies, but I much prefer them to player created sims. I interact with them a lot, leave them to just do their autonomy, and it's become so obvious to me that townies have actual personalities, while player made ones have nothing. I have yet to interact with a player made sim that's actually fun. I don't know what's "under the hood" of the game sims, but it's very apparent they have something extra that doesn't go into anything in CAS. I think it's kind of interesting, but also frustrating because I get stuck with the same sims over and over, since CAS ones are annoying, boring, and disappointing.

Base game did not have toddlers at launch. So they wrote the Pancakes lore and added them without Iggy but never updated them in a patch once we got toddlers.

Yuki Behr tends to end up as a spouse in my generation long saves. Usually in gen 2. She’s one of the last good-looking sims before they start having weird looking babies or the child sims start aging up and turning out weird.
I had one of my sims have 2 kids one with each of the gay couple. By the end she moved in they both loved her but hated each other. That was fun. So much drama !

My favorite premade family and story is The Ito Family in MT. Komorebi. Kiyoshi Ito is also just my favorite premade sim over all.

He doesn't come in the game normally. You have to download the maxis made gallery version of the Pancakes family to get him.

I can't stand any of those Sims other then Candi, Yuki, and Miko. I wouldn't ever consider any of the other characters in this video "the best", in fact I delete some of them starting new saves. You left out more interesting Sims IMO like the Vatore's and Vanessa Jeong for example. I'm actually shocked the Pancakes have fans, they are so boring and vanilla to me.

I've always interpreted Lia as a trans woman and Paka'a Uha and Morgyn Ember as non-binary. All of them wonderful sims.
