Stage 2 Catch Can on WRX

- In this video I install the stage 2 (PCV) catch can from ADD W1. There is a stage 1 (CCV) catch can as well that I have installed in a separate video. You can run just one can but the PCV can will catch more oil and contaminants than the CCV can. These cans have dip sticks so that you can monitor the oil level in the can and know when to dump it out before it gets too full.
These catch cans are a good idea if you intend to push more power on your WRX or just want your intake valves to stay cleaner for longer. The point of catch cans is to catch the oil vapor from the exhaust gas that is re-circulated into the intake. The FA20 engine has direct injection rather than port injection. Direct injection means gas is sprayed directly into the cylinders while port injected means gas is sprayed into the intake port. Having gas sprayed in the intake port helps keep the intake valves cleaner for longer and reduces carbon deposits. Since our cars don't have that, the intake valves build up a lot of carbon deposits over time.
The PCV catch can is a little more difficult to install than the CCV can. Alternatively you can also install an AOS (Air Oil Separator) to catch the oil vapor. An AOS will dump the collected oil back in the oil pan while in a catch can you need to manually dump it out.

GREAT VIDEO!! I just finished my install. Using the OEM hose clamp on that lower fitting was def the move 👏🏻👏🏻
Glad the video was helpful!!
How are you liking this brand catch cans they still holding up
No complaints so far. The CCV catch doesn't catch much, just a light film in the can. The PCV catch can collects a decent amount. I have a youtube shorts video that shows how much each can collects during my oil changes.
Hi fr i’d like to know if the catch can helps improve gasoline performance and octane?
I can't see them making a dramatic difference but yes, it should help with airflow and power. Your sparkplugs will likely last longer too. The less contaminates going though the intake system the better.
