dude.. you're not sleeping on Karnivool, you're in a fucking coma! 😂 this band is such an amazing band. Ian's vocals are just chef's kiss. not only in Karnivool but in birds of Tokyo as well.
@@METALBIRB sound awake. That’s a good start. If the first couple of songs on that album doesn’t do it for you then I don’t know what will. But I will say. Goliath is just god tier! Just turn that song to 11.
Masterpiece of a song. This is amazing. I cannot stop isolating the drums. Nic on the drums is leading this song. Sure they all make this so euphoric and chunky banger, but fuck, Nic is just front and center sending this.
Omg, defs do more Karnivool! Themata, Lifelike, Set Fire To The Hive, Simple Boy, All I Know... so many bangers, and Ian's voice is so incredible and ethereal~ ❤
I remember showing you some Karnivool tunes on twitch. The way their records Themata and Sound Awake are mixed/produced are just pure genius. Forrester Savell is a mastermind producer and engineer
+1 for checking out more Karnivool. And a few other Aussie bands that are just as good are Cog, Dead Letter Circuis, and The Butterfly Effect. These bands basically dominated the Aussie metal/prog scene in the 2000s and are all unbelievable in their own way. I feel like if they were breaking out in this more digital age they would be huge bands and get more global recogition. Definitely hidden gems for metal metal/prog fans these days.
it's pretty obvious that Northlane is focusing on evolving their production and overall sonic feel, while taking a more minimalist route guitar wise. I think it's pretty cool, but I'm hoping we might get some more technical riffage this album.
This song was giving me major Node and Mesmer vibes. The bridge screams were very similar to something like Render. And that chorus is so incredibly Node, more specifically; Obelisk. Interested to see how this stacks up to Alien and Obsidian. The latter I wasn't 100% into.
Karnivool is definitely one of the best bands to not release an album in like FOREVER hahaha. Their last album, Assymetrys is from like '12 or 13'... the hype on the them only grows as they keep this silly hiatus. You should definitely check them out... Karnivool and Dead Letter Circus, two amazing Aussie acts. Karnivool came to Toronto back in 2009 - too bad I didn't live here back in the day.
Yep, you should definitely check out more Karnivool. As others have said, Sound Awake is an incredible album - their whole discography is worth checking out.
This is the 1st time I've heard of karnivool and I know I'm going to get roasted, but I'm really having a hard time knowing when the future comes in. They sound similar in tone and I'm just trying to know when dude comes in so I can appreciate his feature😭
In Australia, the top 3 prog rock/metal bands since the 00’s have been Karnivool, Cog and Dead Letter Circus. Sunk Loto are in there too but much heavier and are now more metalcore. Suss out Dead Letter Circus - Alien. Or do an album reaction for their album ‘This is the Warning’. Every track is a banger and they have one of the best vocalists to come out of Oz. th-cam.com/video/-om7nM-CZ7M/w-d-xo.htmlsi=NrtVDsIejZS-OuUN
On first listen, I definitely felt the same about this that I did about The Void by Spiritbox. But that song definitely was a grower for me. Also, The Plot In You just released a new single and it's...Ho boy. You gotta react to it 😅
So when they played this song live before it's release it had a different intro, a small build up which was way better than what they released. Intro is too short😢
Afterimage OR Miasma?
Afterimage for sure
Dante, tbh
Miasma. After seeing them both live, afterimage is great but my god, miasma was out of control fun.
Afterimage for me but i love all song 👊🔥
1. Miasma
2. Afterimage (but really close to being a tie with Miasma)
3. Dante

Possible album reaction then?... what's their best album?
@@METALBIRB Themata and Sound Awake. DO IT NOW.

@@METALBIRBsound awake 😮💨😮💨
Sound Awake is the best modern prog album ever imo
Ian actually outshines Marcus on this song and I absolutely love Marcus
HARD disagree. This other dude is a fuckin great singer, but you'd have to do a LOT to outshine Marcus.
I must reiterate the Karnivool sentiments. Sound Awake is a masterpiece, still sounds amazing 14 years later. Production at its best.
Yeah so, Karnivool's Sound Awake album is my favourite prog album of all time. Listen to them more, folks.
I’ve been waiting so long for new Karnivool, I’ll take what I can get 😭🤘
I actually like that theyre not just rehashing alien/obsidian. All the singles have been solid for me

Metalbirb slowly turns into Key of Geebs ;)
I wish fast recovering of health
I like that we all kinda travel in the same circles hahaha
I didn't know Anakin Skywalker was the vocalist of Karnivool
Karnivool along with Twelve Foot Ninja are my favourite bands of all time. You seriously need to go down the rabbit hole with both those bands.
it's pretty obvious that Northlane is focusing on evolving their production and overall sonic feel, while taking a more minimalist route guitar wise.

Well this is going to be an Ep but I agree I hope we get more riffage in future songs. I don't know if it'll happen on this EP though
I feel like I'm in the early 2000s with this one.

YES. Dead Letter Circus are just as good. What a band they were

I was one of the lucky ones to see them play this live!
same, hit harder live for sure
Same
This has summer vibes 100%

I heard this earlier this morning and I absolutely love it.
On first listen, I definitely felt the same about this that I did about The Void by Spiritbox. But that song definitely was a grower for me.
Also, The Plot In You just released a new single and it's...Ho boy. You gotta react to it 😅
This song is so good.
I want that mug
Best Karnivool is still Themata
Sound Awake does give it a run for its money tho
@@_notofthisearth love that album but hard disagree
I love Themata but it doesn't come close to touching Sound Awake imo
It's an incredible album, but Sound Awake is untouchable. Sound Awake is one of the best prog albums to ever have been produced.
I think if you just listen to them back to back so it's one album.
So when they played this song live before it's release it had a different intro, a small build up which was way better than what they released. Intro is too short😢
Ngl I thought this was a Sevendust song when I first heard it.
What??
Do yourself a favor and listen to Sound Awake
Northlane's singles never impress me. But when they drop albums, everything makes sense lol
this is made so much better by our lord putney 🙏
Wank
Quite a boring song honestly
