Middleware, by nature, runs in an edge runtime, causing issues when integrating with database-dependent authentication methods like MongoDB. We addressed this by splitting our auth.js file into two parts: one focused solely on authentication configuration and the other handling unrelated tasks.
We then updated our middleware to utilize this new configuration structure. This approach allows us to avoid triggering unnecessary database queries while maintaining the integrity of our authentication logic."
