I love watching you all "diggin the past". When you come across the ones from Louisville, KY I have to say I get a tad giddy, that's "home". As soon as you said Brown F, I knew where it came from before you got the rest of the name out! Thanks for taking us on these adventures. They are awesome.
I watched RB's video first and then came here to watch Brandon's. I've watched a few of Brandon's already and I enjoyed it on both sides. Thanks guys and nice work.
Pinex was a cough syrup, one my Nanny believed in! When you finally got it down, your body DID NOT COUGH. Probably in self-defense. Made you feel like you had been power-gnawing a pine tree, by the taste. It was a horrible, almost black color. Brings back memories! :-)
Watching your friend fling shovelfuls of dirt is why I made my first wire screen in 2007. It was about 24x30" and about 3 and a half deep-framed in 2x4s. In the years since I've engineered them in oak and quarter inch stainless screen I tracked down in an industrial supplier in Kalihi. I had these visions of people tossing gold Dollars (13mm) away. It was great, as in 2007 I was digging the ash dump of the Ewa Plantation Hospital which was also a manufacturing dispensary. It was in use from 1935-67. I found a gold wedding band c1940 and about $8.50 face, 1907-70. Only about two clads. Miscellaneous Catholic and Buddhist devotional accy's. The Hospital was closer to the mill 1893-1935, to find that dump! Everything larger than 4oz was broken, Cokes and a cobalt Japanese med. I wanted bad. Wild root was a hair tonic, the enamel barbershop signs are way collectible. I think the "Fl. ozs. Was required by the congressional act in 1906. Nurses resided on the premises, so cheap jewelry and broken milks, Moanalua and Honolulu Dairymens milks, Honolulu Cokes all broken. I've found one Honolulu T.H. on Molokai and my only Christmas Coke in Lovelock, Nevada, a Reno, one of about 70 known.
Great dig Brandon. I have to say I would be like Russ. All that dirt over my head would make me nervous. I don't move as fast as I once did. Good to see you back digging bottles.
my bottle digging days are done, got A great collection though, some nice rare stuff, and historical stuff. Good you talked about safety, never dig alone, and never ever stick your head under an over hang, if it collapses even if you have a spotter they might not be able to get you out before you suffocate!!!!!!
Pinex was a medicinal cough syrup that you mixed with honey. It made about a pint of syrup. I know because we used to be able to buy it and would mix it according to the recipe on the bottle. It was still available in the late 1960's and 70's at some of the old pharmacies in Mississippi.
I'm always interested in how a bottle digger finds dumps and privies. Do you use old maps, or just know how to find them by probing areas that were common dump sites? Any advice would be great. Really great finds!!
Masks are for people like you not young pups. You can re breath all the toxins your bodys exhales and ony you can enjoy that. no els bud. Dumpest this iv heard yet. Don't be preaching that to anyone you want to live.
Breathing back in the toxins your body is getting ride of is the dumest thing a person can do. use your head people wake the fuck up. Yahl have corona faster than you ever could. The longer you war your mask idiots the faster your amun sistem will deturerat. Since when would the government ever tell you something that would save you. Its not called corona its called population control. If your going in a store to do a little shopping thats one thing waring it in the good out doors like i see some retards doing. Only breaks your amun sistem down for when you reall need it. Dont forget it
I’ve recently come across some 100 year old medicine bottles in Mississippi, buried just like you have here sadly they won’t be available, the area will be concreted in 3 days of this message, but I have a small collection of vintage pre war bottles with caps most medical.
We don't find many Hutch sodas here in Ohio...not in Columbus anyway. I find quite a few embossed drug store bottles and crown top beers in my area but few embossed whiskeys or Hutch bottles...Ohio has a good variety of local soda and beer bottlers and some interesting ACL's from the 1930's to the 1970's.
Cool! A buddy and I just did our first mini bottle dig. We found a few keepers but the dump goes onto someone else's property so we have to try and gain permission for that. GL&HH Matt
wild root i got a few and still got a coupe from my grandfather that was wild root hair tonic was a sweet smelling white thick liquid my grandfather greased his hair back with
I love to tumble rocks and wanted to try tumbling glass next. Wish I had access to someone near me that did what you did. I would take the broken stuff. I’ll have to look around and find someone who bottle digs.
Hey, have you ever thought of putting a tarp in the hole before you cave it in. That way most of it would land on the tarp and then you could just drag it out of the way? Just a thought I had while watching. Awesome finds.
Wow that is a lot of bottles. Be careful what your breathing down there as they used all manner of nasty things back in the old days. ATB GL & HH LittleJohn Metal Detecting 🇬🇧
So I've been watching as many of your videos as I can. I absolutely love them. I'm trying to learn as much as I can from you, so that I know tips and techniques for when I go on my first dig. I've heard you say several times that you've made it to the "bottom." Is this in reference to the dump? Or is it the ash layer? Thank you for your time and for all the videos you make.
@@adventurearchaeology , that makes a lot of sense. So I have another question for you. If I'm asking too much, just say so. Do you seem to find yourself just walking in random creeks that may happen to be along major roads? I'm researching some places to try some creek walking for this weekend, here in northwestern Florida. I'm looking at the sanborn maps and looking into the history of the area, trying to determine good possible places for this area. Although I feel like I'm going to end up looking in random creeks off the side of the road. Haha If you want to communicate outside of these comments, just let me know. Thank you again for everything you're doing. God Bless.
I always liked to hit tin cans and seems like I found more intact bottles in big areas of tin cans. i found old mason with glass clamp top. Hires extract in multiple colors. Just saying
Can you tell me anything about this tint 1 inch tall bottle that say" vicks and on the other side "drops"...still has green medal lid:) the shape is like a 1 inch tall coke bottle but flattened on 2 sides
Um a new viewer this being like my 3rd video and I'm wondering where in the world are y'all digging that your able to dig 10 foot holes like that? Or like the one I watched last night with all that stuff lying around in the creeks?! Is it old landfills or what? And also is this in Alabama?
Here is a quick history lesson on it! According to Historic Buildings and Structures of the West Central Neighborhood Association Fort Wayne, IN, William H. Noll started the Pinex Company in 1905. This company manufactured a cough remedy called “Pinex” which, by 1910, could be purchased in nearly any drugstore in the United States.
I have what I believe is a rare bottle from a soda company in fairmont Minnesota the company didn’t run too long and i heard they are rare the company was called crystal beverages it ran I believe from 1920 to 1959 but im not sure if im correct, anyway I subscribed and it was an awesome video
hey Adventure Archeology , Happy halloween guys man I would love to treasure hunt with Russ Balbirona , he has been my metal detecting hero for years now(love his fisher song) sweeeeeeeeeeeeet bottles , so many different kinds, thank god we don't have to dig that deep, except for the privy's looking forward to seeing you guys out metal detecting and exploring , can't wait till russ comes to Alaska, woo hoo enjoyed the bottle hunt and dig , Congrats on the sweeeeeeeet finds ( BIG thumbs up from Alaska )
Sanborn maps help a lot, also old news papers too local library should have 'em on a computer. You can find dumps at embankments, creeks and cemeteries.
We very rarely break anything. As for hand shovels they are not safe when digging next to shear walls. We need the longer shovels to keep a safe distance in case if a collapse.
4 years later and all these videos are still entertaining to watch again and again. Keep it up Brandon, your videos are brilliant! ❤

You didn't cough because it had codeine in it. Codeine is an opiate and silences coughs.
I have a bottle from 1939 in original box with contents
Nice video. Don't know if it's been suggested or not, but I would like to see a video of how to clean these bottles.
Great video! It makes you wonder what the objects went through , in their time! Great video!

That was a crazy amount of bottles! I worry about y'all breathing in that dust when you do the caves in. Just the mother in me I guess.

How do you find an old dump like that 🤔?
Was this a dump or an outhouse? How did you locate this site? Please advise. Thanks.
2:01 (pinex) is a cough syrup
Man you need a single scratcher for dirt that hard. It would make popping out bottles once you found them so much easier.
great dig and video thanks for sharing Happy Halloween
