I think back in the day they used to call it "puddle Jumping." It was a neat series. We tend to get jaded with the long flights, but many people depend on these short flights. Keeping the Dash's flying is a lifeline for the people living in these areas. Great Job Gaberial!

This brings back memories, have not flown one of these that far north since I was in the army.
Its a whole different country up there in the arctic. (Northern part of Norway).,Its some of the most unforgiving terrains on the planet.
Im willing to bet a lot of their current pilots are ex military.

I remember my trip on the Wideröe route to Andenes from Tromsø. There was this young southern lady there who was quite nervous stepping into these smaller prop planes; a seagull hitting the prop of the plane picking us up from the island probably didn't help. The wind out there can get quite severe, though with the nice weather you had you could really take in the views. Thanks for sharing this :)

As a private pilot and an Australian of 78 years age, I simply love watching your flights Gabriel. As an Aussie through and through, I simply cannot understand how any human being would choose to live voluntarily in those icy confines. That's what makes us different. Your flight on LN-WIF was 29. February. At the same time a NATO exercise on land, in air and at sea was going on. Special regulations with regards to photography from aircraft was introduced a number of places during the time if the exercise. News agencies in Norway have for years had stories of these Russian interruptions on civilian aircraft and passenger carriers in northern Norway, and it is part of the diplomacy the Russian frequency of interruptions goes high the more NATO closes into the Russian border. (Not to make a lame point, but there are very good reasons to keep NATO at distance from Russia.)
Wideroe and its machines are among my favorites! In these small aircrafts one really are able to feel some power and connection to being in the air. (Bumpy rides in snowy winter-storms is perhaps not wanted.) You had just calm beautiful flights though, with spectacular sceneries. Lucky you!

Well we do not jam russian signals ... or GPS, thats the difference, the reason for no photo is because of 2 things ... military area most likely and there are 5km zone around airports where you are not allowed to fly drones, also to fly drones you are required to have a special licence to fly it, and you have to tell the airport services that you fly or where you fly so they can either call you if a plane gets close or warn planes that there are drones in the area.

The pilots were very clear on the fact that Andenes was not allowed to be filmed, and an announcement was made on board to passengers stating as much. For Evenes they did not mention it at any point to us. It was later also cleared with Widerøe ops and media team that it was fine to include this.

They did not tell you that Senja is inhabited by Spanish and Portuguese that got stranded in the 1600s and never left. There are places on Senja where they still have siesta

Andøya does NOT mean "duck island". We know from several sagas that the the Viking age name comes from Ǫmd. The actual meaning is unknown, but it's unrelated to ducks.

It make it easier for foreigners to remember the name and there are a lot of ducks here so it's okay. But yes it probably mean ande, breathing or something similar.

Russian here. It's actually a logical thing that could happen bordering Russia. Especially when Norway's flights are kinda close to Murmansk that has nuclear submarines and also Olenya Air Base near Murmansk.
